The present invention provides a method of generating, on a data processing system, a multi-channel audio convolution reverb, said method comprising providing a plurality of impulse responses corresponding to a desired room to be simulated; receiving, in input, multi-channel audio sample data; performing, for each respective audio channel, same channel convolution operation on said respective audio channel with a corresponding impulse response; for each audio channel other than said respective audio channel, performing cross-channel convolution operation respectively with a corresponding cross-channel impulse response; performing combination of the results of the respective convolution operations; and outputting the combination (or summation) result as said output audio channel; wherein, in said performing said cross-channel convolution operation, wherein at least one convolution operation is performed corresponding to a shorter length of impulse response than at least one other convolution operation, preferably, said cross-channel convolution operation being performed only for an initial part of said cross-channel impulse response, said initial part being defined by a definition parameter.

Methods, modules, and computer-readable recording media for providing a multi-channel convolution reverb

An artificial-reverberation generating device comprises in one embodiment a convolution engine in association with an impulse-response synthesizer. The impulse-response synthesizer preferably comprises a noise synthesizer and a control means for controlling one or more parameters of the noise synthesizer, the parameters corresponding to adjustable characteristics of the generated reverberation. The noise synthesizer is preferably a pseudo-random number generator, which is multiplied by the output signal of a density generator. The density generator output signal advantageously takes the form of a series of spikes of variable duration and time-interval spacing. The multiplier outputs feed a phase-correlation stage, followed by a time-variant filter stage and a time-variant amplifier stage. The output of the time-variant amplifier stage forms the output of the impulse-response synthesizer and is used to feed impulse-response information to the convolution engine.

Artificial-reverberation generating device

A method and apparatus for shifting pitches of audio signals to achieve desired pitch relationships between the audio signals. Two or more audio signals are received. The audio signals may be in either a digital or analog format. One of the input audio signals is selected to be a reference signal. For each of the other audio signals, the pitch of the other audio signal is compared with the pitch of the reference signal to determine a relative pitch relationship. For each of the other signals, an adjustment is determined to bring the relationship to a desired pitch relationship. Based on the adjustment, the pitch of at least one of the audio signals is adjusted to achieve the desired pitch relationship between the audio signals.

Method for shifting pitches of audio signals to a desired pitch relationship

A synthesiser to generate sounds often in a musical environment but also in a speech environment. Such synthesis of sounds is often accompanied by at least one mode of filtering or many modes. Hitherto, the application of such filtering has involved a control for each filter. This may be by way of a lever, toggle or rotatable knob. Thus, a user when applying the filters is required to adjust each control independently of the other. This enhances the complexity and a large amount of skill is involved in accurately selecting the required amount and types of filtering. Thus, the present invention is directed towards a user interface for controlling the filtering of a signal input (such as a sound), said user interface comprising a rotatable controller having two or more sectors, each sector of said controller corresponding to a respective filter, whereby in use said controller is rotated to align said sectors with respect to said signal input thereby controlling the application of the filters to the signal input.
