A bone plate includes a plate body defining an interior surface that defines a combination hole that includes intersecting locking and compression holes that each extend between outer and bone-facing surfaces of the plate body. A central axis of the compression hole is spaced from a central axis of the locking hole in an offset direction. A locking surface of the plate body defines the locking hole and at least one locking structure therein. A compression surface of the plate body defines the compression hole. An intersection boundary between the locking and compression surfaces is configured to translate the bone plate in the offset direction during contact between the intersection boundary and a head of a compression screw as it advances within the combination hole along an insertion axis offset from the central axis of the locking hole at an offset distance in a direction having a directional component in the offset direction.

Bone plates having multi-use combination holes for locking and dynamic compression, and related systems and methods

A bone plate defines an interior surface that defines: a hole extending through the plate along an axis; plate threads configured for locking with a threaded head of a locking screw; first, second, and third columns sequentially located about the axis; a first corner extending tangentially from the second to the first column; and a second corner extending tangentially from the third to the first column. The first and second corners are substantially equidistantly spaced from the axis. The plate threads extend across the first, second, and third columns and the first and second corners. The interior surface defines a recess between the second and third columns and facing the first column. An apex of the recess is spaced further from the axis than are the first and second corners, such that the recess circumferentially interrupts at least a portion of at least one of the plate threads.

Bone plates having polygonal locking holes with thread interruption, and related systems and methods

A bone fixation system includes a bone plate having an outer surface, an opposed bone-facing surface, and an interior surface that defines a hole extending from the outer surface to the bone-facing surface along a central hole axis. The interior surface further defines a compression surface. The system includes a bone fixation member having a shaft extending from a head along a central fixation member axis. The head has an exterior surface that defines a threaded head portion configured for variable angle locking with a complimentary variable angle plate locking structure. The compression surface and the threaded head portion are cooperatively configured to translate the bone plate in a direction substantially perpendicular to the central hole axis when the threaded head portion contacts the compression surface when the bone fixation member axis is offset from the central hole axis at an offset parameter as the head advances within the hole.

Bone plates having compression holes, and related systems and methods

A drill guide handle configured to engage a variable angle drill guide, including: a handle grip; a first cannula extending from a proximal end of the drill guide handle to a distal end of the drill guide handle, wherein the first cannula is configured to provide a zero degree insertion angle for a drill bit; and a body including: a first tab and a second tab wherein the first and second tabs include a first and second tab protrusion, respectively, wherein each of the first tab and the second is configured to flex so that the first and second tab protrusions engage a horizontal groove on a variable angle drill guide; and a body protrusion on an inner surface of the body, wherein the body protrusion is configured to engage a vertical grove on the variable angle drill guide.

A drill sleeve, including: an outer sleeve with an internal collet at a distal end of the outer sleeve, a slot, and an inner opening; a handle connected to the outer sleeve; an inner sleeve with an inner opening configured to receive and guide a drill bit, wherein the inner sleeve is configured to slide inside the inner opening of the outer sleeve; a trigger; a connection member connected to trigger and the inner tube, wherein the connection member passes through the slot in the outer sleeve and a biasing member configured to apply a biasing force between the handle and the trigger wherein the biasing force drives the inner sleeve into the outer sleeve, wherein when a distal end of the inner sleeve engages the internal collet, the internal collet is configured to engage a screw hole in a bone plate, align the drill sleeve with a nominal axis of the screw hole, and secure the drill sleeve to the screw hole.

Self-orienting drill sleeve

A bone fracture fixation system including reference pins inserted into bone fragments of a patient in a first configuration and an image capture device configured to capture an image of the reference pins, and the bone fragments. The system includes a processor configured to receive and pre-process the captured image data. The processor pre-processes the image data by virtually re-positioning the reference pins in the first configuration into a second configuration, wherein the re-positioning virtually re-positions the bone fragments into normal alignment; and virtually generating a support device. The system includes a point-of-care production apparatus that produces a three-dimensional model of the virtually generated support device in a form that can be applied to the patient. The three-dimensional support device generated by the point-of-care production apparatus is configured to receive the reference pins in the first configuration; and simultaneously re-positions and fixes the bone fragments into normal alignment.

A bone graft system includes a two-dimensional mesh sheet sized and shaped to, when folded along fold lines, form a three-dimensional graft containment structure configured to be packed with a bone graft material for placement within a target area of a bone, the mesh sheet including a first end flap connected to a remaining portion of the mesh sheet via a first fold line and a second end flap connected to the remaining portion of the mesh sheet via a second fold line, a third fold line extending from the first fold line to the second fold line so that the remaining portion is configured to be wrapped around folded first and second end flaps to form the graft containment structure, the first and second end flaps substantially corresponding to a profile of the target area of the bone.

A graft cage includes cross-sectional portions and longitudinal members. Each portion includes base transverse members forming a cage base; a first arm including first arm transverse members; a second arm including second arm transverse members; base connecting struts, each base connecting strut extending between first one and second one of the base members; first arm connecting struts, each first arm connecting strut extending between a first one of the first members and a second one of the first members; and second arm connecting struts, each second arm connecting strut extending between first one and second one of the second members. The longitudinal members connect the portions to one another. Intersections of the portions with the longitudinal members forming pores in the first and second arms. The pores receive an arm tip of a further graft cage therein to interlock the cage with the further cage.

A bone graft containment device includes a plurality of cage segments connected to one another along a longitudinal axis, each of the cage segments connected to an adjacent one of the cage segments via a connection which permits movement of the cage segments relative to one another so that the bone graft containment device is deformable to a desired configuration for placement within a target space of a bone, each cage segment extending along from a first end to a second end and including a channel extending therethrough so that channels of the plurality of cage segments, in an initial configuration, are aligned along the longitudinal axis, the channels configured to be packed with a bone graft material.

Bendable graft containment cage

A bone graft containment device includes a body formed via one or more helical structures extending about a longitudinal axis of the body from a first end to a second end to define a channel extending longitudinally therethrough. The channel is configured to receive a bone graft or bone graft substitute material therein, the one or more helical structures formed of a material permitting the body to be one of expanded, compressed and curved to fill a target space of a target bone.

A drill sleeve, including: an outer sleeve with an internal collet at a distal end of the outer sleeve and an inner opening; a handle connected to the outer sleeve; an inner sleeve with an inner opening configured to receive and guide a drill bit, wherein the inner sleeve is configured to slide inside the inner opening of the outer sleeve; a trigger connected to the inner sleeve; and a biasing member configured to apply a biasing force between the handle and the trigger wherein the biasing force drives the inner sleeve into the outer sleeve, wherein when a distal end of the inner sleeve engages the internal collet, the internal collet is configured to engage a screw hole in a bone plate, align the drill sleeve with a nominal axis of the screw hole, and secure the drill sleeve to the screw hole.

A bone graft containment device includes a body extending longitudinally from a first end to a second end. The body is defined via a strut framework sized and shaped to correspond to an outer surface of a target bone. The strut framework defines an interior space configured to receive a bone graft or bone graft substitute material. The device also includes a first grasping structure and a second grasping structure extending from an exterior of the body. The first and second grasping structures are configured to receive a bone fixation plate therebetween.
