Methods and apparatus are disclosed, including in one example a method for scheduling resources, associated with a plurality of components of a communication network, for providing a network service to a user equipment (UE). The method comprises receiving a service request for providing the network service, wherein the service request includes one or more service constraints. The method also comprises, for each of the plurality of network components, determining component resources that are needed to fulfill the service request according to the service constraints, sending, to a manager function associated with the particular component, a resource request that includes identification of the determined component resources and information related to the service constraints, and receiving, from the manager function, service information associated with the particular component. The method also includes, based on the service information and a cost function, determining a resource schedule for the plurality of network components that fulfils the service request.

Service delivery with joint network and cloud resource management

A method of operating a user equipment, UE, for device-to-device, D2D, transmission of a channel state information, CSI, report and/or a CSI reference signal, CSI-RS, is provided. The method may include identifying a CSI selection window containing candidate resources for use in D2D transmission of the CSI report and/or CSI-RS. The method may include identifying a data selection window containing candidate resources for use in D2D transmission of data and which at least partially overlaps a region of the CSI selection window. The method may include controlling transmission of data and the CSI report and/or CSI-RS to use at least one resource that is selected within the overlapping region of the CSI selection window and the data selection window.

Methods of resource selection for sidelink multi-stream transmission in wireless communications systems and related apparatuses

In one aspect, network nodes maybe configured for improving predictability of application performance in a wireless communication system. A mobile network domain predicts an upcoming network event affecting a UE operating in the wireless communication system and notifies an application server (AS) providing an application service to the UE of the predicted network event. The AS may be notified through an Application Function (AF). The AS receives the notification and adjusts operation of the application service and/or a configuration of the UE, in response to the notification.

Notification of expected event

A method and wireless device for determining a time interval, T2, for selecting a time-frequency resource are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes determining the time interval based on at least one parameter serving as a proxy indicative of a likelihood of collision. In some embodiments, at least one of the at least one parameter is a priority level indication, such that a higher priority transmission results in a lower value of T2.

Resource selection based on latency requirements

A technique for transmitting and receiving data in a radio communication from a second radio device to a first radio device is described. As to a method aspect of the technique, one or more radio resources are determined based on radio signals received at the first radio device. The one or more radio resources comprise at least one spatial stream among different spatial streams receivable at the first radio device. A status message indicative of the one or more determined radio resources is transmitted to the second radio device. The data from the second radio device is received at the first radio device on at least one radio resource depending on the one or more radio resources indicated in the transmitted status message.

Technique for device-to-device communication based on radio signals received from one or more radio sources

According to an aspect, there is provided a method performed by a communication network for negotiating a data transfer between an application service and a user equipment, UE, via the communication network. The method comprises: receiving (), from the application service or a backend controller associated with the application service, a request for network capacity available for data transfer, wherein the request includes an indication of an amount of data to be transferred and one or more trajectories of the UE; determining () network capacity along the one or more trajectories based on load information associated with a radio access network, RAN, of the communication network; and sending (), to the application service or the backend controller associated with the application service, a response including information related the determined network capacity.

Application adaptation with exposure of network capacity

A method by a network node controls connectivity of UEs by identifying a group of UEs for communication with an application controlling parameters used by the UEs for operation in a vehicle platoon. The method controls connectivity for a UE in the group with a RAN node responsive to characteristics of the other UEs in the group. For each of the UEs the characteristic relates to functional operation of the UE with the application. Another method by an application server identifies the group of UEs, and identifies a characteristic of each of the UEs with the application. A message identifying the group of UEs and their characteristics is communicated to a network node for controlling connectivity for individual UEs in the group with a RAN node responsive to the characteristics of the other UEs in the group.

Connectivity control for platooning of user equipments

A system includes a network node configured for operation in a wireless communication network. The network node includes radio circuitry and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to determine a measurement period and an associated reporting window to be used by a wireless device for generating and sending charging reports indicating Device-to-Device (D2D) communications activity by the wireless device. The processing circuitry is further configured to transmit configuration information via the radio circuitry. The configuration information indicates the measurement period and the reporting window.

A method in a node is disclosed. The method comprises generating a tag for an associated data packet at a first layer, the generated tag indicating one or more parameters related to transmission of the associated data packet. The method comprises signaling the tag from the first layer to another layer. The method comprises mapping, at the another layer, the associated data packet to a logical channel based on the one or more parameters indicated by the tag, and selecting one or more resources for transmission of the associated data packet based on the mapping of the associated data packet to the logical channel.

Per-packet resource pool selection in LTE V2X system

Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating one or more channel properties of a downlink from a cellular communications network based on quasi co-located antenna ports with respect to the one or more channel properties. In one embodiment, a user equipment receives a downlink subframe including a downlink control channel from the cellular communications network. The user equipment estimates one or more large-scale channel properties for an antenna port of interest in the downlink control channel based on a subset of reference signals that correspond to antenna ports in the cellular communications network that are quasi co-located with the antenna port of interest with respect to the one or more large-scale channel properties. As a result of using the quasi co-located antenna ports, estimation of the one or more large-scale channel properties is substantially improved.

According to an aspect, there is provided a method performed by a communication network for negotiating a data transfer between an application service and a user equipment, UE, via the communication network. The method comprises receiving, from the application service or a negotiation function associated with the application service, a request for data transfer, wherein the request includes an indication of an amount of data to be transferred and one or more of the following: one or more service constraints associated with the data transfer; and a trajectory of the UE; obtaining predicted capacity for network resources needed to execute the data transfer according to the information included with the request; based on the predicted capacity, determining whether the request can be fulfilled according to the information included with the request; and sending a response to the request based on the result of the determination.

Predictive, cached, and cost-efficient data transfer

There is disclosed a method for operating a wireless device in a wireless communication network. The method comprises configuring, by the wireless device, a reporting time window for transmitting a report to the wireless communication network and determining, by the wireless device, whether data transmission from the wireless device to the wireless communication network is scheduled for a transmission time within the reporting time window, as well as transmitting the report together with the scheduled data transmission if it is determined that such is scheduled for a transmission time within the reporting time window. There are also disclosed corresponding methods and devices.

A wireless device () is configured for dual mode V2X communications over multiple short range radio interfaces. The wireless device () is configured to transmit ITS messages over a first short range radio interface configured to operate according to a first communication standard (e.g. PC5 or IEEE 802.11p), and to receive ITS messages over both the first short range radio interface and a second short radio interface configured to operate according to a second communication standard. Implementing the transmitter chain of only one technology, either PC5 or IEEE 802.11p, at each wireless device () reduces complexity and mitigates co-channel and adjacent channel interference that is caused by uncoordinated and concurrent transmissions of different technologies from the same wireless device. Implementing receiver chains for both PC5 and 802.11p allows the wireless device () to receive signals in the ITS frequency band regardless of which technology the transmitting device is using.

Dual mode vehicle to vehicle communications

Some embodiments provide a method for channel estimation in a wireless device. According to the method, the wireless device obtains () an indication that a set of antenna ports, or antenna port types, share at least one channel property. The wireless device then estimates () one or more of the shared channel properties based at least on a first reference signal received from a first antenna port included in the set, or having a type corresponding to one of the types in the set. Furthermore, the wireless device performs () channel estimation based on a second reference signal received from a second antenna port included in the set, or having a type corresponding to one of the types in the set, wherein the channel estimation is performed using at least the estimated channel properties.
