A power supply includes an assembly comprising an inductor and a transformer. The inductor and the transformer are integrated to share a core of magnetic permeable material disposed in the assembly. The power supply further includes an unregulated power converter stage and a regulated power converter stage. The unregulated power converter stage implements use of the transformer. The regulated power converter stage implements use of the inductor. A combination of the regulated power converter stage and the unregulated power converter stage operative to collectively produce an output voltage to power a load.

Power supply and integrated magnetic assembly implementations

An apparatus such as a power converter includes a first flying capacitor, a second flying capacitor, etc., an inductor, and a network of switches. The network of switches controls conveyance of energy from the multiple flying capacitors to the inductor. The inductor converts the received energy into an output voltage to power a load. A magnitude of the respective voltage on each of the flying capacitors is substantially the same.

Power conversion and flying capacitor implementations

A voltage converter powers a load. The voltage converter includes a first power converter and a second power converter. The first power converter produces an intermediate voltage and a first output current derived from an input voltage. A converter includes first and second input terminals and first and second output terminals. The converter also includes an output capacitor coupled between the first output terminal and the second output terminal, and a magnetic component having two input terminals and three output terminals. A first output terminal of the magnetic component is coupled through a first electronic switch to the second output terminal of the converter, a second output terminal of the magnetic component is coupled to the first output terminal of the converter, and a third output terminal of the magnetic component is coupled through a second electronic switch to the second output terminal of the electronic converter. A resonant converter includes a primary switching circuit having a primary winding and a primary switching stage configured to drive the primary winding; a secondary resonant circuit having a secondary winding magnetically coupled to the primary winding, a resonance capacitor connected in parallel to the secondary winding, and first and second secondary inductors respectively coupled between an output terminal of the converter and respective terminals of the resonance capacitor; a rectification stage connected in parallel with the resonance capacitor, and having first and second switches coupled to form a half-bridge; and a feedback command circuit. The command circuit is configured to receive feedback signals representing an output voltage and an output current at the output terminal of the resonant converter, receive voltages at the terminals of the resonance capacitor, and turn on/off, independently with respect to each other, the switches of the rectification stage and the primary switching stage.

A control system for a switching DC-DC converter is proposed. The converter includes an input terminal for receiving an input voltage from a source, a control terminal adapted to receive a switching control signal, and an output terminal for providing to a load an output voltage generated from the input voltage according to the control signal. The control system includes detecting means for detecting a reaching condition of a predetermined value by a current provided to the load by the converter and control means for controlling the control signal according to the output voltage. The control system further includes disabling means for disabling the supply of the control signal to the control terminal according to the detection of the reaching condition. The disabling means includes selection means for controlling the disabling according to a time relationship between the detection of the reaching condition and the control signal.

A control device for a switching converter, the converter having at least one transistor supplied by an input voltage and adapted to supply a load by means of an output voltage. The converter also including a circuit adapted to turn on and off the at least one transistor. The control device includes an operation circuit adapted to change the state of the at least one transistor from turned on to turned off or vice versa, respectively when the output voltage goes down or goes up by a first voltage of a given value by defining a first state; the operation circuit including a further circuit adapted to generate a ramp signal and to change the first state of the at least one transistor from turned on to turned off or vice versa when the ramp voltage is equal to the output voltage of the converter.

A method controls a Full Bridge converter with a Current-Doubler of the type including at least a first and a second half-bridges of diodes connected to respective control transistors. The method includes detecting a reference value, comparing, instant by instant, the reference value with an output voltage value of the converter, and carrying out a switching from a transfer phase to an energy recirculation phase in correspondence with instants when the output voltage value reaches the reference value.

Method for regulating the time constant matching in DC/DC converters

A device for effectuating a digital estimate of a periodic electric signal is described. The device comprising a linear DAC having an output signal, a comparator that compares the output signal of the linear DAC with the periodic electric signal, and logic circuitry having in input the output signal of the comparator and a pulse clock signal. The logic circuitry provides a first digital signal in input to the linear DAC and a second digital signal representative of the estimate of the periodic electric signal.

Device to effectuate a digital estimate of a periodic electric signal, related method and control system for an electric motor which comprises said device

A device for correcting a digital estimate of an electric signal is described. The device includes a comparator that generates a current proportional to the difference between an analog estimate signal, which derives from the digital estimate, and the electric signal. The device also includes a capacitor positioned to be charged by the current, a transistor that discharges the capacitor, and a comparator that compares the voltage at the terminal of the capacitor with a reference voltage. The device also includes a controller that drives the transistor in response to the output signal of the comparator and a logic device that generates a correction digital signal to be added to or subtracted from the digital estimate of the electric signal in correspondence of an ascending or descending waveform of the electric signal.
