The invention notably relates to computer-implemented designing of a geological simulation grid configured for hydrocarbon flow simulation in a geological environment. The designing of the geological simulation grid comprises providing (S) a geometrical grid having cells and representing the geological environment; providing (S) a structural model that represents geological surfaces of the geological environment, the geological surfaces comprising one or more geological surfaces each in contact with at least one other geological surface; and determining (S), for each geological surface of the structural model, pairs of cells that represent the geological surface, the pairs of cells determined for at least one respective geological surface in contact with at least one respective other geological surface each including a first cell and a second cell located both on a same side of the at least one respective other geological surface. This improves the field of geological simulation.

A computer implemented method for processing a seismic image comprising seismic values obtained from seismic measurements performed on a geological formation includes determining a seismic dip image based on the seismic image, said seismic dip image comprising local seismic dips representative of the local gradient of the seismic values of the seismic image; initializing a seismic horizon surface modeled by using a combination of spline functions or by using a triangle mesh; and iteratively modifying coefficients used for combining the spline functions, thereby iteratively modifying the seismic horizon surface to progressively increase alignment between local orientations of the seismic horizon surface and the corresponding local seismic dips, until a predetermined stop criterion is satisfied.

Method and system for processing seismic images to obtain seismic horizon surfaces for a geological formation

The invention notably relates to a computer-implemented method for designing a geological simulation grid, the method comprising: providing a geometrical grid that conforms to a set of geological structures of a geological environment; providing a geometrical surface that represents a geological surface of the geological environment, the geological surface being outside the set of geological structures; identifying geometrical structures of the geometrical grid that each correspond to a respective location of the geometrical surface; and transferring to each identified geometrical structure one or more respective parameters, each parameter being a value of a respective property of the geological surface. This improves the field of geological simulation.

Designing a geological simulation grid

The invention notably relates to a method for performing a 3D structural restoration of a geological setting with a computer system, including unfolding one or more geological surfaces of the geological setting. The unfolding comprises for each respective geological surface providing a 3D triangulated surface representing the respective geological surface, and determining a conformal flattening that transforms the 3D triangulated surface into a 2D triangulated surface. The conformal flattening is an iso-topographic mapping which substantially preserves angles. This provides an improved solution of 3D structural restoration of a geological setting.
