A mandrel holder head with release/fastening device of the mandrel for rolling metallic tubes comprises a mandrel holder () which accommodates within an internal seat a half collar () of externally cylindrical shape through an opening in the side wall. In the internal seat are accommodated both an end part () of the mandrel shank and the half collar () through the opening. The half collar has an internal cavity with a second longitudinal side opening which accommodates a second part () of the shank of diameter smaller than that of the first part (). The half collar is divided along an axial direction into two cylindrical parts () which have different diameters. The locking member () of the half collar () holds it in the mandrel holder () seat in working conditions, while allowing shank release with an axial movement in locked conditions.

Multifunctional extruding press with multiple equipment and extrusion method thereof

In a method for quenching, particularly for steel tubes or similar, the tube (T) is quenched by a vortical flow of cooling liquid at least along the outer shell surface, with at least a circulatory motion inside the tube. The vortical flow of cooling liquid has a component of circulatory motion in the circumferential direction around the outer shell surface of the tube and a component of motion in the axial direction with respect to the tube. A device for the application of the method has a container (1) for the tube (T), with at least one source (18, 217) of supply of an external cooling liquid flow, and with an outlet (101) for the discharge of the flow from the container (1). The source (18, 217) of supply of the external cooling liquid flow is such that it generates the flow in a circumferential direction with respect to the tube (T). The discharge aperture (101) is provided at one end of the container (1) and its dimensions are such that they produce a component of the flow in the axial direction with respect to the tube (T) in the external cooling liquid flow.

Walking-beam furnace for the accelerated heating of billets or the like, in which the upper surfaces of the mobile beams (1) and of the fixed beams (1') are made up of billet-tipping ridges (5, 4) having profiles which interact during operation so as to cause rotation of the billets about their longitudinal axes as they advance through the furnace. According to the invention, the billet-tipping ridges (4, 5) of the fixed beams (1') and of the mobile beams (1) consist of a plurality of modular elements (7, 8, 9, 10) in the form of billet-tipping ridge segments which are mutually aligned along the length of the beams (1, 1'). The ridge segments (7, 8, 9, 10) have additional features which improve operation of the billet-tipping ridges (4, 5).

A roller for furnaces, is used with a plurality of rollers substantially parallel to each other. The roller is provided with a plurality of annular collars which are side by side and spaced apart. The annular collars are cooled by means of a flow of cooling fluid which is oriented transversely with respect to their axis and parallel to their median plane. The annular riders are made in tubular form and may be of toroidal form and are connected separately each to the supply duct and to the return duct for the cooling fluid. They may also be formed by the individual turns of a tubular spiral or by a number of successive segments of a spiral which are connected via their ends to the supply duct and to the return duct.

This invention relates to a method of and a walking beam furnace for the intermediate heating of pipes, or the like, in hot rolling mills, by means of a furnace located between the plug-mill and the sizing mill. According to the invention, in a forehearth (17) of the intermediate heating furnace, at the inlet side thereof, there is maintained a temperature which is lower than that at the outlet side, and which, anyway, is such that the hottest pipes will be cooled down and the coldest pipes will be heated up whereby, when exiting from said forehearth (17) of the furnace, the difference between the temperatures of the various pipes is zero or, at least, is small and, in any case, is smaller than that at the inlet, whereas in the successive chamber (18) of the furnace there is maintained such a temperature as to give the pipes the desired temperature when exiting from the furnace. Preferably, the forehearth (17) is not provided with burners and is heated in an indirect manner by the successive furnace chamber (18) which is provided with one or more burners (19). This invention also provides an intermediate heating furnace of the walking beam type, provided with loading or charging means (11;31) permitting some pipes, or the like, to be charged into the furnace even after an emergency interruption of the discharging operation.
