A fanis coupled to an end of the shaft and has a hub substantially covering one end of the motor assembly. A shroudhas a motor cover. Fastening structureis associated with the shroud and engaged with the brackets thereby mounting the motor assembly to the shroud, with the motor cover substantially covering the end cap and the non end cap covered motor portion.

A method of providing RFI suppression in a DC motor provides a universal terminal bar structureincluding a positive terminal barand a negative terminal bar, a first chokeelectrically connected with the positive terminal bar, a second chokeelectrically connected with the negative terminal bar, a first ground connectionconstructed and arranged to electrically connect the positive terminal bar to ground, a first breakable section A between the first ground connection and the positive terminal bar, a second ground connectionconstructed and arranged to electrically connect the negative terminal bar to ground, and a second breakable section B between the second ground connection and the negative terminal bar. Capacitor structureis attached to the terminal bar structure, and the first breakable section is selectively broken, alone or in combination with the second breakable section to provide versatile RFI suppression.

A brush card assemblyis provided for a permanent magnet brush motor. The motor includes a link wound, high speed side commutatorand an associated high speed side armature winding, and a link wound low speed side commutatorand an associated low speed side armature winding. The brush card assembly includes a brush cardincluding a high speed side having a positive brushand a negative brush' constructed and arranged to be operatively associated with the high speed side commutator, and a low speed side opposite the high speed side. The low speed side has a positive brushand a negative brush&#x2032; constructed and arranged to be operatively associated with the low speed side commutator. The brushes are constructed and arranged with respect to the commutators to provide at least two different operating speeds of the motor.

A permanent magnet D.C. electric motor includes a stator housing, permanent magnet structure, and an armature assembly. The armature assembly includes a shaft rotatably mounted in the stator housing, lamination structure, first and second coil windings associated with the lamination structure, a first commutator electrically connected with the first coil windings, and second commutator electrically connected with the second coil windings, each of the first and second commutators being generally cylindrical and having a plurality of commutator segments. Certain segments of the first commutator and certain segments of the second commutator are electrically connected. The motor also includes a brush card assembly including a high speed side having first brush structure associated with the first commutator, and a low speed side having a second brush structure associated with the second commutator, and switches for selectively connecting a D.C. voltage in such a way as to cause the armature assembly to rotate at a first speed and a second speed.

A jump bar shunt structure includes a base constructed and arranged to be mounted to a substrate and to function as a current shunt; a pair of first legs and integral with the base and being constructed and arranged to be connected between terminals of at least two power devices such as MOSFETs; and a pair of second legs and integral with the base and being constructed and arranged to be connected to a printed circuit board so as to define a current sensing connection. The jump bar shunt structure is a single component that carries high current between two or more power devices and converts current into voltage that is used by the current measurement circuitry. The advantage of the jump bar shunt structure is that no high current (motor current) flows through a control PCB.

Tolerance take-up structure,extends from the ring member,in one direction and is constructed and arranged to engage at least a portion of a periphery of a ball bearing. At least a portion of the tolerance take-up structure,is resilient so that when inserted into the housing the resilient portion contacts a wall of the housing to take-up tolerances between the periphery of the ball bearing and the wall of the housing. A retaining structure,extends from the ring member,in a direction opposite the one direction. The retaining structure,is constructed and arranged 1) to permit insertion of the ball bearing mounting member into the housing in an insertion direction, and 2) to prevent movement of the ball bearing mounting member from the housing in a direction opposite the insertion direction.
