A sonotrode for an ultrasonic welding apparatus, having a lower portion of length u and an upper portion of length o, the upper portion and the lower portion adjacent on a longitudinal axis of the sonotrode, and the total length of the sonotrode in the direction of the longitudinal axis being u+o, the lower portion having a sealing surface oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the sealing surface contacting a material to be processed. The lower portion has a slot, wherein the slot extends from the sealing surface to a side of the lower portion opposing the sealing surface, such that the lower portion of the sonotrode is divided into a plurality of segments which lie adjacent each other in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

Compensation for thermal deformation on sonotrodes

A device is shown and described for ultrasonic welding of composite material, in particular composite material of package sleeves and/or packages, including at least two tools for ultrasonic welding, in particular a sonotrode and an anvil. Each tool has a functional surface for contact with the material to be welded. The functional surfaces of the tools are aligned approximately parallel to one another in such a way that a gap with an approximately horizontal seam direction is created between the functional surfaces. The tools are mounted in such a way that the width of the gap can be changed by at least one of the tools being movable along a feed direction, and at least one joint having at least one axis of rotation about which one of the tools is rotatable. In order to enable optimal adaptation of the movably mounted tool—for example the sonotrode—to the materials to be welded and their size, it is proposed that the position of the axis of rotation can be changed.

An ultrasonic oscillation system with a converter which can convert an electrical alternating voltage into a mechanical oscillation, and a sonotrode of mass m, which is intended to be set into oscillation with the mechanical oscillation, the converter being coupled to the sonotrode in such a way that the vibration generated by the converter generates a vibration excitation of the sonotrode, the ultrasonic vibration system being intended to be operated with a vibration of wavelength λ. In order to provide an ultrasonic oscillation system in which the problems described are at least reduced, the ultrasonic oscillation system has a mechanical resonator of mass m, which can be brought into resonant oscillation with an oscillation of wavelength λ, the mass mof the resonator being larger than the mass mof the sonotrode.

The present invention concerns an ultrasonic welding installation comprising an ultrasonic vibration unit having a sonotrode and a converter, wherein the sonotrode and the converter are arranged in mutually adjacent relationship along a longitudinal axis and the ultrasonic vibration unit can be caused to resonate with an ultrasonic vibration in the direction of the longitudinal axis with a wavelength λ/2, wherein there is provided a holder for holding the ultrasonic vibration unit. To provide an ultrasonic welding installation which allows simple and quick highly precise adjustment of the sealing surfaces of the sonotrode relative to the anvil it is proposed according to the invention that the holder has an angle positioning device, wherein the angle positioning device and the ultrasonic vibration unit are of such a configuration that they can be connected together in positively locking relationship so that a rotation of the ultrasonic vibration unit about the longitudinal axis is prevented by the positively locking connection and a relative movement between the ultrasonic vibration unit and the holder in the direction of the longitudinal axis is not prevented.

The present invention concerns an ultrasonic welding installation comprising an ultrasonic vibration unit having a sonotrode and a converter, wherein the sonotrode and the converter are arranged in mutually adjacent relationship along a longitudinal axis and the ultrasonic vibration unit can be caused to resonate with an ultrasonic vibration in the direction of the longitudinal axis with a wavelength λ, wherein there can be provided an amplitude transformer arranged between the sonotrode and the converter, wherein there is provided a holder for holding the ultrasonic vibration unit. To provide an ultrasonic welding installation having a holder which allows simple adjustment of the ultrasonic vibration unit and simple replacement thereof it is proposed according to the invention that the holder has a clamping device which is reciprocable between an opened position in which the ultrasonic vibration unit can be removed from the holder and a closed position in which the clamping device comes into contact with the ultrasonic vibration unit and exerts a force on same so that the ultrasonic vibration unit is held.

To provide an ultrasonic welding installation which allows simple and fast highly precise adjustment of the sealing surfaces of the sonotrode relative to the anvil according to the invention there is proposed a support element for supporting a force applied to the sonotrode perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis, wherein the sonotrode and the support element have mutually corresponding support surfaces which at least when a force is applied to the sonotrode perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis come into contact with each other, wherein the support surfaces are of such a configuration that when they are in contact with each other they prevent a relative movement of the sonotrode with respect to the support element in the direction of the longitudinal axis and do not impede a rotation of the sonotrode about the longitudinal axis.

The present invention concerns A sonotrode with a wheel-shaped portion having a wheel axis and of a diameter d, which has two substantially circular main surfaces and a substantially cylindrical sealing surface of the width b, that connects the main surfaces. To provide a corresponding sonotrode in which the triangular frequency differs markedly from the main frequency it is proposed according to the invention that at least one main surface has a non-central thickened portion which in a sectional view perpendicularly to the main surface has a convex region which is not arranged on the wheel axis.

The present invention relates to an ultrasonic sonotrode with a main sonotrode body and a sealing area arranged on one side of the main sonotrode body. The main sonotrode body has two through-slits extending in or through the main sonotrode body respectively along a slit axis. These through-slits intersect in such a way that a through-channel through the main sonotrode body is formed from the one through-slit into the other through-slit. This creates a slit portion that is formed both by the one through-slit and the other through-slit. Provided in this main sonotrode body is a processing channel, which extends along a processing channel axis from a side area of the main sonotrode body up to the through-channel and is arranged substantially symmetrically about the processing channel axis.
