Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to advertise UE capabilities to a network node in a radio access network (RAN). Such methods include transmitting the following FeatureSet information to the network node: one or more InitialFeatureLists, with each InitialFeatureList indicating the UE's support for one or more initial features; and one or more ExtensionFeatureLists associated respectively with the one or more InitialFeatureLists, with each ExtensionFeatureList indicating the UE's support for one or more extension features. Respective elements in each ExtensionFeatureList correspond to respective elements in the associated InitialFeatureList. Such methods include receiving from the network node a configuration that includes: identification of one or more frequency bands to be used for communication by the UE; and for each identified frequency band, configuration of one or more features indicated as supported by the UE in the one or more InitialFeatureLists and the associated one or more ExtensionFeatureLists.

Methods for advertising extensible capability feature sets for user equipment (UE)

Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a wireless terminal and base station, and corresponding methods therein, for providing a handover for a subset of bearers associated with the wireless terminal. The subset of bearers is less than a total number of bearers associated with the wireless terminal. Thus, upon the completion of the handover procedure, at least one bearer will stay connected with a source base station.

Node and method for enabling a wireless terminal to be served by multiple cells in a communications network

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A method for a transfer of a UE context within a secondary network from a source secondary network node to a target secondary network node. The UE is served by a master network node and the source secondary network node. The method includes the following steps performed by the UE: receiving a first message indicative of a secondary network node measurement configuration; based on the measurement configuration, performing measurements of potential candidates for a target secondary network node; and sending a second message comprising a measurement report indicative of the measurements of potential candidates for a target secondary node.

Secondary node change measurement signaling in next generation radio network

A communication device receives an uplink grant from a node of a cellular network. The uplink grant indicates uplink radio resources allocated to the communication device in reoccurring time intervals. For each of these time intervals, the communication device selects between an active mode and an inactive mode. In the active mode the communication device performs an uplink transmission in the allocated uplink radio resources. In the inactive mode the communication device performs no uplink transmission in the allocated uplink radio resources.

Conditional uplink radio resource utilization in a cellular network

Embodiments include methods for a master node (MN) configured to provide a master cell group (MCG) in dual connectivity (DC) with a user equipment (UE) together with a secondary node (SN) configured to provide a secondary cell group (SCG). Such methods include determining one or more restriction parameters to control selection of the UE's SCG configuration by the SN, such that the UE's minimum required processing time, T_SCG, of SN messages scheduling UE uplink (UL) SCG transmissions is smaller than a maximum value derived from the one or more restriction parameters. The starting of the first and second timers causes the first and second timers to simultaneously elapse. Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

A method by a master network node for measurement gap configuration includes establishing a connection with a wireless device operating in dual connectivity with the master network node and a secondary network node. The master network node operates on a New Radio, NR, wireless network and the secondary network node operates on a Long-Term Evolution, LTE, network. The measurement gap configuration is configured on a per frequency basis for at least a first frequency and a second frequency on the NR wireless network. The measurement gap configuration is configured on a per frequency basis for the first frequency on the LTE network. The method further incudes configuring, by the master network node, the wireless device with at least one measurement gap for the second frequency when the master network node configures a measurement that requires the at least one measurement gap.

Methods performed by a network node in a radio communication network are provided herein. Operations according to such methods include detecting a radio link failure on a master cell group and indicating to a user equipment whether to use a master cell group fast recovery procedure to avoid a radio resource control re-establishment.

Methods for configurability of master cell group/primary cell fast recovery and related apparatuses

The present disclosure generally relates to the field of security context setup. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to techniques of supporting security context setup in a wireless communication network. A method embodiment relates to supporting security context setup in a wireless communication network, the method comprising initiating (S), by a radio access network (RAN) element of the wireless communication network, Access Stratum (AS) security context setup for a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) and a second RAT in a common signaling procedure.

Multi-RAT access stratum security

A wireless device operates with dual connectivity to a Master node and a Secondary node, which are both New Radio, NR, nodes. It receives measurement and/or reporting configuration information from a network. It determines whether the received 5 configuration information relates to a MCG or a SCG. Specifically, it is determined that the received configuration information relates to the MCG if the configuration information is received directly within an RRCReconfiguration message received via SRB1, or that the received configuration information relates to the SCG if the configuration information is received directly within an RRCReconfiguration messagereceived via SRB3, or alternatively if the configuration information is received in an RRCReconfiguration message that is embedded within an RRCReconfiguration message received via SRB1.

Measurement configuration in NR-DC

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to advertise UE capabilities to a network node in a radio access network. Such methods include transmitting to the network node one or more BandCombination elements. Each BandCombination element includes: a list of frequency bands in which the UE can concurrently transmit and/or receive information, and a FeatureSetCombination element that identifies features supported by the UE within each frequency band of the list. Such methods include receiving from the network node a configuration including: identification of one or more frequency bands from the list included in a particular one of the BandCombination elements, and for each identified frequency band, configuration of one or more features identified by the FeatureSetCombination element included in the particular BandCombination element. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a network node, as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods.

According to an aspect, one or more network nodes of a wireless communication system sends, to a wireless device operating in the wireless communication system, mobility reference signal (MRS) configuration information, the MRS configuration information specifying one or more parameters for each of a plurality of MRS configurations. The network node subsequently sends, to the wireless device, an activation command indicating that at least a first one of the MRS configurations is to be used by the wireless device, the activation command including an index identifying the first one of the MRS configurations from among the plurality of MRS configurations. The wireless device receives the MRS configuration information and the activation command. The wireless device searches for at least one MRS specified by the first one of the MRS, responsive to the activation command and performs at least one measurement on the at least one MRS.
