Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) configured to communicate with a radio access network (RAN) via a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG). Such methods include, while the SCG is deactivated, performing beam failure detection (BFD) for at least one cell in the SCG, according to a first BFD configuration. Such methods include, in response to detecting an initial beam failure in the deactivated SCG, transmitting a first message indicating the initial beam failure to a RAN node configured to provide the MCG; and in response to detecting one or more subsequent beam failures in the deactivated SCG, refraining from transmitting to the RAN any messages indicating the one or more subsequent beam failures (e.g., until receiving another BFD configuration). Other embodiments include complementary methods for a RAN node, as well as UEs and RAN nodes configured to perform such methods.

Beam failure detection and recovery for deactivated secondary cell group (SCG)

Embodiments include methods for a UE to perform mobility operations in a wireless network based on conditions related to data traffic. Such methods include receiving, from a network node, one or more conditional reconfigurations. Each includes a reconfiguration message associated with a candidate target cell and one or more execution conditions that need to be fulfilled to apply the reconfiguration message when performing a mobility operation, including at least one first execution condition related to UE data traffic and/or to one or more UE applications. Such methods include monitoring for the execution conditions in the conditional reconfigurations and based on detecting fulfillment of one or more execution conditions in a particular conditional measurement configuration, performing a mobility operation towards the candidate target cell associated with the reconfiguration message in the particular conditional measurement configuration. Other embodiments include complementary methods by a network node, as well as UEs and network nodes

Conditional reconfiguration based on data traffic

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to advertise UE capabilities to a network node in a radio access network (RAN). Such methods include transmitting the following FeatureSet information to the network node: one or more InitialFeatureLists, with each InitialFeatureList indicating the UE's support for one or more initial features; and one or more ExtensionFeatureLists associated respectively with the one or more InitialFeatureLists, with each ExtensionFeatureList indicating the UE's support for one or more extension features. Respective elements in each ExtensionFeatureList correspond to respective elements in the associated InitialFeatureList. Such methods include receiving from the network node a configuration that includes: identification of one or more frequency bands to be used for communication by the UE; and for each identified frequency band, configuration of one or more features indicated as supported by the UE in the one or more InitialFeatureLists and the associated one or more ExtensionFeatureLists.

Methods for advertising extensible capability feature sets for user equipment (UE)

Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a wireless terminal and base station, and corresponding methods therein, for providing a handover for a subset of bearers associated with the wireless terminal. The subset of bearers is less than a total number of bearers associated with the wireless terminal. Thus, upon the completion of the handover procedure, at least one bearer will stay connected with a source base station.

Node and method for enabling a wireless terminal to be served by multiple cells in a communications network

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A method for a transfer of a UE context within a secondary network from a source secondary network node to a target secondary network node. The UE is served by a master network node and the source secondary network node. The method includes the following steps performed by the UE: receiving a first message indicative of a secondary network node measurement configuration; based on the measurement configuration, performing measurements of potential candidates for a target secondary network node; and sending a second message comprising a measurement report indicative of the measurements of potential candidates for a target secondary node.

Secondary node change measurement signaling in next generation radio network

A communication device receives an uplink grant from a node of a cellular network. The uplink grant indicates uplink radio resources allocated to the communication device in reoccurring time intervals. For each of these time intervals, the communication device selects between an active mode and an inactive mode. In the active mode the communication device performs an uplink transmission in the allocated uplink radio resources. In the inactive mode the communication device performs no uplink transmission in the allocated uplink radio resources.

Conditional uplink radio resource utilization in a cellular network

Embodiments include methods for a master node (MN) configured to provide a master cell group (MCG) in dual connectivity (DC) with a user equipment (UE) together with a secondary node (SN) configured to provide a secondary cell group (SCG). Such methods include determining one or more restriction parameters to control selection of the UE's SCG configuration by the SN, such that the UE's minimum required processing time, T_SCG, of SN messages scheduling UE uplink (UL) SCG transmissions is smaller than a maximum value derived from the one or more restriction parameters. Such methods include sending, to the SN, at least portion of the determined restriction parameters. Other embodiments include complementary methods for an SN, as well as network nodes configured to perform such methods.

Signaling enhancement for dynamic power sharing in dual connectivity

A user equipment starts a first timer and a second timer in response to different respective network events. The starting of the first and second timers causes the first and second timers to simultaneously elapse. In response to one of the simultaneously elapsing timers expiring, the user equipment indicates, to a network node, which of the simultaneously elapsing timers expired.

Mobility robustness in a cellular network

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

A method by a master network node for measurement gap configuration includes establishing a connection with a wireless device operating in dual connectivity with the master network node and a secondary network node. The master network node operates on a New Radio, NR, wireless network and the secondary network node operates on a Long-Term Evolution, LTE, network. The measurement gap configuration is configured on a per frequency basis for at least a first frequency and a second frequency on the NR wireless network. The measurement gap configuration is configured on a per frequency basis for the first frequency on the LTE network. The method further incudes configuring, by the master network node, the wireless device with at least one measurement gap for the second frequency when the master network node configures a measurement that requires the at least one measurement gap.

A wireless device operates with dual connectivity to a Master node and a Secondary node, which are both New Radio, NR, nodes. It receives measurement and/or reporting configuration information from a network. It determines whether the received 5 configuration information relates to a MCG or a SCG. Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to advertise UE capabilities to a network node in a radio access network. Such methods include transmitting to the network node one or more BandCombination elements. Each BandCombination element includes: a list of frequency bands in which the UE can concurrently transmit and/or receive information, and a FeatureSetCombination element that identifies features supported by the UE within each frequency band of the list. Such methods include receiving from the network node a configuration including: identification of one or more frequency bands from the list included in a particular one of the BandCombination elements, and for each identified frequency band, configuration of one or more features identified by the FeatureSetCombination element included in the particular BandCombination element.
