A cable processing machine has a processing region for processing cables, an operating region for operation of the machine by an operator, a conveying device that conveys batches of cables processed in the processing region from the processing region to the operating region, a cable storage device having a receiving portion accessible from the processing region for receiving individual cables processed in the processing region and a removal portion accessible from the operating region for safe removal of the individual cables by the operator, as well as a feed device that feeds the cables processed in the processing region either to the conveying device or to the receiving portion.

A straightening apparatus for straightening cables includes a first roller group having several rollers and a second roller group having several rollers opposite the first roller group. The cable alternates in a transport direction between the rollers of the first roller group and the rollers of the second roller group. The straightening apparatus further includes an infeed device with which the first roller group can be displaced in a closing direction against the second roller group. In order to secure the position of the first roller group displaced in the closing direction by the infeed device, the straightening apparatus includes a backstop which blocks a backward movement of the first roller group against the closing direction. The backstop has a clamping roller which is received in a wedge gap.

Straightener for straightening cables

A crimping tool exchange device exchanges a first crimping tool for a second crimping tool, wherein each crimping tool, when at a processing position in a crimping press, produces a crimp connection connecting a conductor end of a cable to a crimp contact. The device includes first and second exchange units retaining the first and second crimping tools respectively. When one of the exchange units is arranged in an exchange position the retained crimping tool can be moved in a first direction between the processing position and the one exchange unit. The first exchange unit is moved linearly from the exchange position in a second direction, and the second exchange unit is moved linearly from the exchange position in a third direction that is different from the second direction, the second direction being at an angle relative to the third direction.

A method for aligning a crimper of a first tool of a crimping press relative to an anvil of a second tool of the crimping press, wherein the crimper and the anvil make a crimp connection jointly by moving the crimper relative to the anvil in a first direction, includes: determining a lateral offset of a center line of the crimper to a center line of the anvil in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, wherein the center line of the crimper runs through a center of the crimper and in the first direction and wherein the center line of the anvil runs through a center of the anvil and in the first direction; and moving the crimper relative to the anvil in the second direction for lowering the lateral offset.

A method for aligning a crimper of a first tool relative to an anvil of a second tool in a crimping press, wherein a crimp connection is made by jointly by moving the crimper relative to the anvil in a first direction, includes: moving the crimper relative to the anvil in the first direction until the anvil is partially inside a cavity of the crimper; moving the anvil relative to the crimper in a second direction transverse to the first direction until detecting contact between the anvil and the crimper; moving the anvil relative to the crimper opposite to the second direction until detecting contact between the anvil and the crimper for determining a gap width between the anvil and the crimper; and moving the anvil relative to the crimper in the second direction by a distance which is equal to half of the determined gap width.

A cable end holding device for holding a cable end of a cable for a crimp process includes a cable holding element for holding the cable end and a vertical position alteration device having two lever elements for altering the vertical position of the cable holding element in a manner decoupled from a movement of a stamp during the crimp process. The lever elements extend mutually parallel along a longitudinal direction of the lever elements and are arranged mutually offset in height and in a width direction perpendicular to the vertical and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The lever elements each are rotatably mounted about a first axis of rotation extending along the width direction, the two first axes of rotation extending mutually parallel.

A cutting unit for stripping cables in a stripping station includes a base body and a knife holder attached thereto for holding stripping knives. The knife holder is firmly glued to the base body by an epoxy-resin adhesive, whereby the stripping knives are electrically isolated from the base body. The stripping knives are screw-connected with the knife holders. For the reading-out of electrical signals for detection of contact with a conductor the cutting unit has a printed circuit board that is electrically connected with the knife holders by contact screws.

A straightening device for straightening cables includes two rows of rollers, an adjusting device for manually adjusting a distance between the rows of rollers, a measuring device for recording the distance between the rows of rollers, and an indicator device with which deviations of the actual value of the distance between the rows of rollers, determined by the measuring device, from a nominal value is visually indicated. The indicator device has two optical error indicating elements for indicating too high and/or too low an actual value compared with the nominal value of the distance, as well as an optical 'correct' indicating element for indicating that the actual value of the distance corresponds with the nominal value.

A method for stripping and testing of a cable having at least one conductor enclosed in an insulating sheath uses a stripping device with at least one stripping blade. The method steps include: extending the stripping blade in a transverse direction to sever the insulating sheath; displacing the stripping blade in a longitudinal direction to pull off the severed insulating sheath; detecting a contacting of the conductor; retracting of the stripping blade in the transverse direction when the contacting is detected; recording the movement data of the stripping blade at the time of contacting; determining a further movement course of the stripping blade from the movement data and forming a corresponding local quality value is formed; and comparing the local quality value with a quality specification to establish whether a quality of the conductor meets requirements.

Method for stripping a cable

A device for processing&#x2014;particularly stripping insulation, cutting, contacting, fitting-out, connecting, measuring or checking&#x2014;a cable that has at least one insulated electrical conductor includes a metal tool movable relative to the cable and a measuring device by which contact with the electrical conductor by the tool is detectable. The tool is connected with a first electrode body movable relative to a second electrode body so that through the two electrode bodies, which bodies are separated from one another by an air gap or an insulating material, a coupling capacitor is formed, by which the metal tool is or can be coupled to the measuring device, to an alternating voltage source or to an electrical potential.

Device for processing cables

Cable processing equipment for fitting out cables includes local control units for local setting-up of the processing stations, for example a crimping station. The local control unit of the crimping station has a trigger button for triggering the processing process and an approval button for approval of whether the crimping process is to be executed. The processing process can be started only with simultaneous pressing of the trigger button and the approval button. Moreover, the local control unit includes a cable call button for activating a feed unit for feeding a cable end of the cable to the crimping station.

Cable processing equipment

A method for producing a crimp connection includes initially guiding a cable end of a cable with a gripper to a crimping press. For this feed movement the gripper is moved by an actuator in an axial direction along the cable axis. The cable end is thereafter connected with a crimp contact. During the crimping process the gripper is, for compensation for length extension of the cable during crimping, moved along the cable axis in a return movement in an opposite direction to the feed movement.

Method for producing a cable end crimp connection

A crimping station with a crimping press for producing a crimp connection, the crimping press including a drivable press part movable in vertical direction, with which a cable end of a cable can be connected with a crimp contact, a gripper for supplying the cable end to the crimping press, and a positioning unit for vertically positioning the cable end at the crimping press. During the process of moving the press part the gripper is moved by the positioning unit between a starting position and an end position. The positioning unit is connected via a variable gearbox with the press part whereby during the moving of the press part, the positioning unit is moved in relation to the press part at a speed reduced by a reduction ratio of the gearbox, and the reduction ratio can be adjusted by an adjusting device.

Crimping station

A method for stripping a cable, the cable having a conductor encompassed by an insulation and extending in a longitudinal direction, includes cutting into the insulation with stripping blades, after which the insulation is removed by sliding the stripping blades in the longitudinal direction. During the removal procedure, the longitudinal position of the stripping blades is detected if it has been determined by a detection device that at least one of the stripping blades has come in contact with the conductor. Based on the longitudinal position of one or more contacts with the conductor, a classification of the cable as adequately or poorly stripped is carried out.

In a wire-processing machine, a belt-drive feeds a wire to a first swivel-arm with a first gripper. To feed the leading wire-end to processing stations, the first swivel-arm is set in a swiveling motion and/or in a linear motion. To feed the trailing wire-end to processing stations, the second swivel-arm is set in a swiveling motion and/or in a linear motion. After processing of the leading wire-end, by means of the belt-drive the desired cut-off length of wire is advanced and, by means of a transporting system, is transported further.
