An electronic device is equipped with an oscillator interface to be coupled to an oscillator crystal of an oscillator element. The electronic device includes an oscillator circuit which is coupled to the oscillator interface and generates an oscillator signal. The electronic device is further provided with a temperature measurement interface to be coupled to a temperature sensor of the oscillator element so as to receive the temperature signal. For accomplishing temperature compensation, the electronic device is provided with a measurement controller coupled to the measurement interface and configured to measure a first value of the temperature signal at a first point of time and a second value of the temperature signal at a second point of time. A frequency drift estimator is provided so as to estimate a frequency drift of the oscillator signal on the basis of the first value of the temperature signal and a second value of the temperature signal. By means of a compensation logic, a frequency compensation signal for the oscillator circuit is generated on the basis of the estimated frequency drift.

Ultra-wideband signal amplifier

The disclosed polar modulation transmitter circuit is configured to generate an output signal having a transmission frequency that minimizes crosstalk effects between different transmission bands (e.g., Bluetooth, GSM, UMTS, etc.). In particular, a polar modulation transceiver circuit, having an amplitude modulated (AM) signal and a phase modulated (PM) signal, comprises a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) configured to generate a DCO signal having a DCO frequency. The DCO signal is provided to one or more frequency dividers that are configured to selectively divide the DCO signal to generate various lower frequency signals, used to select a sampling rate for a DAC operating on the AM signal and an RF carrier signal frequency, which result in an output signal having a frequency that does not interfere with other RF systems on the same IC (e.g., that falls outside of the downlink frequency of other RF systems). Other systems and methods are also disclosed.

Polar transmitter suitable for monolithic integration in SoCs

A method and an arrangement for processing a received signal which comprises phase-shift modulated or amplitude-quadrature modulated part-signals which are transmitted in a plurality of different frequency bands, wherein the received signal is processed in a plurality of stages in succession, by multiplying all the input signals to each of the stages by two mutually orthogonal signals in each case to form two intermediate signals in each case, wherein the intermediate signals from one stage in each case act as the input signals to whichever is the succeeding stage in the particular case and the received signal acts as the input signal to the first stage, and wherein an in-phase and/or an quadrature component of the individual part-signals in the different frequency bands are determined from the intermediate signals from the last stage. Parallel, simultaneous reception of a plurality of frequency bands can be implemented relatively easily in this way.

Demodulating a signal having multiple frequency bands

Circuit arrangement for a wideband mixer with predistortion and high linearity

The invention is directed to a receiver arrangement, for example, in a mobile radio, which allows the use of slowly locking phase locked loops for a point-to-point connection between two transceivers, even in the case of a heterodyne receiver structure. The need to change channels between a transmission slot and a reception slot is avoided by virtue of a changeover device being provided for the purpose of interchanging the in-phase and quadrature components at the input side on a down-conversion frequency mixer. This advantageously allows either the upper sideband or the lower sideband of a useful signal to be down-converted without the need to change channel.

A PLL circuit () is regulated by means of a digital modulation signal () at a first frequency, and is then regulated at a second frequency, by deactivation of the digital modulation signal (). A difference signal (), which is characteristic of the voltage change in a control signal () for the VCO () which is produced by deactivation of the digital modulation signal () is compared with an analog modulation signal (). The analog modulation signal () is changed so as to correct any discrepancy determined during the comparison.

A traveling wave amplifier comprises a first normally off MOS transistor having a drain, source and gate terminal. The drain terminal is connected to a node of a drain line, which is connected to a first supply voltage potential via a connecting resistor. The gate terminal is connected to a node of a gate line, onto which an input signal is coupled. The source terminal is coupled to a second supply voltage potential via a first resistor. The traveling wave amplifier also comprises at least one second normally off MOS transistor. In addition, the traveling wave amplifier further comprises a normally off bias MOS transistor. The normally off bias MOS transistor forms a current mirror with at least one of the second normally off MOS transistors. An output signal of the traveling wave amplifier is tapped off on the drain line.
