A multi-channel decoder circuit associated with a multi-channel decoder system is disclosed. The multi-channel decoder circuit comprises a distributed decoder circuit comprising a set of unit decoder circuits, each unit decoder circuit configured to receive one or more codewords of a plurality of codewords associated with a plurality of input channels, and decode the one or more codewords. The multi-channel decoder circuit further comprises a distribution controller circuit configured to distribute each incoming codeword of the one or more codewords to the respective unit decoder circuit of the set of unit decoder circuits within the distributed decoder circuit, based on determining a currently available unit decoder circuit within the set of unit decoder circuits.

Multi-channel decoder with distributed scheduling

Network devices (e.g., a modem, router, wireless user device, laptop, personal digital assistant or other similar wireless network devices) can be configured to monitor and detect a biological presence. In response to determining a biological presence (e.g., a human being or other similar being), a network device can alter parameters related to the generation of radio frequency (RF) energy in order to further ensure or guarantee safety from potential radiation as the number and power of network devices within a certain premises or vicinity increases.

Within a communication system that includes multiple communication channels, a low-power mode of operation and a higher-power mode of operation are provided. Each channel is allocated to one of several groups, based on criteria such as whether power is allocated to that channel in low power mode, and whether power was allocated to that channel in a previous high power mode. Initial power levels for each channel for each mode are approximated using an interpolation rule known to both the receive and the transmitter. The system switches between modes according to a PMD pre-defined schedule. When a new power mode begins, the receiver measures signal power received on each channel and then transmits corrective information sufficient to allow adaptation of power levels to achieve PMD pre-defined levels of received power.

Optimizing power consumption in a communication system

Methods and apparatus to transmit data are disclosed. An embodiment comprises providing transmission opportunities for data to be transmitted. A transmission opportunity can comprise a payload portion for payload. The method comprises transmitting the payload portion. The payload portion comprises a beginning portion from beginning of the payload portion and a completion portion to completion of the payload portion. An embodiment comprises transmitting control information after the beginning portion is transmitted and before the completion portion of the payload portion is transmitted. In an embodiment the control information is indicative of a future completion of the transmitting the payload portion.

The present disclosure relates to a communication system which, in accordance with one exemplary embodiment, a communication network for providing network services to at least one network device and at least one distribution point (DP) coupled to at least one network backbone. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a network device. The network device includes a receiver configured to be coupled to a transmission medium supporting a multi-carrier channel over which data is communicated as symbols in a first communication state according to an initial bit-loading configuration. The receiver is further configured to detect noise that can corrupt the symbols on the multi-carrier channel. In addition, the receiver is configured to, in response to the detected noise, allocate at least part of the multi-carrier channel to a transient robust channel that facilitates adaptive communication.
