A communication method and device are described. The communication device can be a multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) communication device configured to communicate using a first SIM and a second SIM. In the communication method, a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) communication can be established using the first SIM. Further, whether the MBMS communication is prioritized over a second communication being initiated using the second SIM can be determined. The MBMS communication and the second communication can be managed based on the determination. The communication device can include a service priority determination processor that can determine whether the MBMS communication is prioritized over the second communication.

A mobile terminal device includes a processing circuit and a receiver circuit. The processing circuit is configured to determine if a multimedia data stream associated with a mobile communication network is received, identify a set of reception timing occasions of the multimedia data stream, and calculate an alternate radio measurement schedule based on the set of reception timing occasions. The receiver circuit is configured to receive the multimedia data stream and perform one or more radio measurements according to the alternate radio measurement schedule if the multimedia data stream is received while the mobile terminal device is in an idle radio connection state, and perform one or more radio measurements according to a default radio measurement schedule if no multimedia data stream is received while the mobile terminal device is in the idle radio connection state.

An apparatus, a system and a method of controlling a subscriber identity module (SIM) operation state in a multiple SIMs radio. For example, while operating a first packet switch (PS) service on a first SIM, a multi-SIM radio is configured to receive a PS paging signal indicating on arrival of a second PS service configured to operate on a second SIM. The radio may determine a priority of the first PS service, and a priority of the second PS service. The radio is configured to activate the second SIM, for example, if the priority of the second PS service is higher than the priority of the first PS service operating on the first SIM.

Controlling subscriber identity module (SIM) active state in a multiple SIMs radio

A technique for performing layerprocessing is described. In a method implementation of this technique, at least one first RLC SDU is created from one or more first RLC PDUs. It is assumed here that the first RLC SDU belongs to an incomplete RLC SDU set that is to comprise at least one second RLC SDU, and that the second RLC SDU is to be created from at least one second RLC PDU not yet available. In a next step, a first PDCP function is applied to the first RLC SDU to create a data packet. The RLC function is only performed after the second RLC PDU has become available (or after an RLC time-out). Then, after the RLC function has been performed, the data packet is released to a second PDCP function.

A distributed memory architecture for a layer 2 processing circuit chip () is described. In one implementation, the layer 2 processing circuit chip () comprises an external memory interface configured to provide access to data packets stored in an external memory (), a layer 2 processor () coupled to the external memory interface () and configured to process data packets retrieved from the external memory () to generate RLC SDUs, and an on-chip memory () coupled to the layer 2 processor () and configured to store the RLC PDUs generated by the layer 2 processor () prior to their transmission. Upon a request to retransmit an RLC PDU, the layer 2 processor () is configured to selectively read the RLC PDU to be retransmitted from the on-chip memory () or a data packet comprising the RLC PDU to be retransmitted from the external memory (). In the latter case, the layer 2 processor () is further configured to re-generate the RLC PDU to be retransmitted from the data packet read from the external memory (). The selectivity of the read operation depends on whether or not the RLC PDU to be retransmitted belongs to a data packet that has been completely transmitted in a single layer 1 transport unit.
