In certain embodiments, a system for making an implant for an eye comprises a laser, a camera, and a computer. The laser emits a laser beam to shape a material. The camera generates one or more images to monitor shaping of the material. The computer stores a pattern for the implant, which is designed to provide refractive treatment for the eye; sends instructions to the laser to control the laser beam to shape the material according to the pattern; assesses the images from the camera according to the pattern; and adjusts the instructions in response to the images.

The present disclosure provides a system for femtosecond ophthalmic surgery in which a measuring device and a camera generate data that is processed and used to create an enhanced pictorial representation based on the actual positions of the suction ring and the eye. The pictorial representation may include a graphic relating to ophthalmic surgery, such as for a flap or an incision. The disclosure further provides a method for docking a suction ring in femtosecond laser ophthalmic surgery, which includes observing and generating data relating to the position of the suction ring, generating data relating to a pictorial representation of the suction ring and the eye, processing the data relating to the observed position and the pictorial representation to generate an enhanced pictorial representation, and presenting it during surgery. The pictorial representation may include a graphic relating to ophthalmic surgery, such as for a flap or an incision.

Systems and methods for femtosecond laser ophthalmic surgery docking

In certain embodiments, a system for making an implant for an eye comprises a printer, a camera, and a computer. The printer prints material onto a target and has a printer head and printer controller. The printer head deposits the material onto the target, and the printer controller moves the printer head to deposit the material onto a specific location of the target. The camera generates an image to monitor the printing of the material. The computer stores a pattern for the implant, which is designed to provide refractive treatment for the eye; sends instructions to the printer controller to move the printer head to print the material onto the target according to the pattern; assesses the image from the camera according to the pattern; and adjusts the instructions in response to the image.

A lens-sensor array for imaging parts of an eye comprises a lens array disposed onto a sensor array. The lens array transmits a light from a lens towards the sensor array. The lens array comprises a first section configured to direct the light reflected by a first part of the eye to the sensor array, and a second section configured to direct the light reflected by a second part of the eye to the sensor array. The first section comprises first sub-sections, each first sub-section comprising at least one first lenslet. The second section comprises second sub-sections, each second sub-section comprising at least one second lenslet. The sensor array comprises sensors that detect the light from the lens array and generate sensor signals corresponding to the light reflected by the first part of the eye and the light reflected by the second part of the eye.

The present disclosure provides a system for femtosecond ophthalmic surgery in which the position of a suction cone in the z direction is measured via the measuring device to generate data that is processed and used to create a pictorial representation, a histogram, or other graph based on the data. The pictorial representation may include at least one threshold marker. The disclosure further provides a method of performing docking in femtosecond laser ophthalmic surgery including measuring the position of a suction cone with a measuring device, and transmitting data regarding the position to a processor which processes the data and uses it to create a pictorial representation, histogram, or other graph that is presented on a display.

In certain embodiments, a system for performing refractive treatment of an eye comprises a laser, a printer, and a computer. The laser emits a laser beam to prepare the eye for the refractive treatment. The printer prints material onto a print area of a target. The printer comprises a printer head and a printer controller. The printer head directs the material onto the print area, and the printer controller moves the printer head to direct the material onto a specific location of the print area. The computer comprises a memory and processors. The memory stores instructions for a pattern for the target. The pattern is designed to provide the refractive treatment for the eye. The processors instruct the printer controller to move the printer head to print the material onto the print area according to the pattern.

An optical imaging system is to be aligned with its optical axis in relation to a given alignment axis. For this, a radiation beam is emitted from one side of the imaging system along the alignment axis. In the direction of beam propagation, there is located behind the imaging system a pair of diaphragm elements, whose apertures are each covered by a piece of material transparent to the radiation, carrying a plurality of sensor elements arranged in a matrix. The sensor elements furnish information about the measured radiation intensity to a signal processing unit, which can graphically illustrate the current alignment status of the imaging system on a monitor and/or produce an automatic adjustment of the imaging system.

An artificial eye model for use in ophthalmological measurements exhibits a simulation of at least one eye structure, for instance of a cornea or of a crystalline lens. In accordance with the invention the simulation possesses fluorescent properties. In this way, a beam expansion as a result of multiple scattering in the case of scattered-light-based photographic recordings can be avoided. Instead of this, a sharp-contour imaging of the simulated eye structures is made possible.
