Disclosed is an apparatus for at least partially, preferably entirely coating the peripheral edge of a workpiece, comprising a feeding device that has a coating head; a coating application means that applies the coating to the peripheral edge as well as an air flow are provided on/in the coating head, said air flow removing excess coating from the edge; the workpiece and the coating head are moved relative to one another. The invention further relates to a method for coating the peripheral edge of a workpiece with the aid of a coating head.

The present invention relates to a coating system for coating an elongated wood, plastic and/or metal workplace with a coating agent. Said system comprises a pre-treatment station, a coating station and/or a drying station. A transport means transports the workplace along the coating systems.

Coating system

A device for applying a coating medium to at least one partial surface of an elongated workpiece in a vacuum chamber. The device includes a housing () having a storage container () with an oblique base () and an air conduit opening into the base and of a deposition device that is positioned above the storage container. To ensure that the air stream exiting the vacuum chamber has a degree of purity that complies with legal requirements so that the stream can also be introduced into the working chamber, or can be used for a further coating process without any detrimental effect on the same, several sheath-type filter rods (), which consist of borosilicate glass and are traversed by the air, are arranged downstream of the deposition device () in the direction of flow of the air removed by suction.

Coating device for an elongated workpiece

The invention relates to a method of drying coated and/or impregnated objects (), in particular lacquered wood, wherein [drying of] a coating agent and/or impregnation agent applied to the surface of the object concerned is completed before a characteristic period of time has elapsed, by irradiating the coated or impregnated surface with infrared radiation. The characteristic period of time is determined by the time needed for components of the coating and/or impregnation agent () to migrate away, i.e. by penetrating into the object (), so that the quality of the coating or impregnation is impaired. Alternatively or in addition, the characteristic period of time is determined by the fact that after it has elapsed, a solvent and/or dilution fluid that is contained in the coating and/or impregnation agent () and is to be driven out and/or bound during the heating process has caused fibers in the object () to be raised up, so that a secondary treatment of the surface is necessary or desirable.
