Systems and methods for operation and assembly of a helical drive are provided. A helical drive includes a discrete roller assembly-based roller worm including a body portion and a plurality of discrete roller assemblies disposed in a first helical pattern about the body portion. The helical drive includes an engagement structure including a primary axis, wherein the roller worm is configured to rotate about a central axis to cause linear translation of the roller worm along a length of the engagement structure and the primary axis. The engagement structure includes a plurality of tracks disposed along the length of the engagement structure, where each of the tracks is configured to receive at least one of the roller assemblies during the rotation of the roller worm.

Discrete roller assembly-based helical drive for translation

The present disclosure provides a co-bonded acoustic liner, including a honeycomb core with cells therein, a thermoset-based plastic septa material co-bonded to a top face of the honeycomb core; a facesheet with perforations to enable airflow, co-bonded to the thermoset-based plastic septa material; and an optional backside skin positioned under the honeycomb core, co-bonded to the bottom face of the honeycomb core, wherein the liner supports a single degree of freedom acoustic structure. The disclosure further provides methods of preparing and using such co-bonded acoustic liners.

A machining support configured to reduce spring back of a sheet following a machining operation on the sheet is presented. The machining support comprises a porous material with a plurality of surfaces including a support surface having a contour configured to contact and support the sheet; sealing material covering each of the plurality of surfaces except the support surface; and a vacuum port configured to provide a vacuum to the porous material.

Supporting a contoured sheet of material during machining operations

A co-curable thermoset acoustic liner and method of forming the same includes a sound attenuating core having a plurality of core cells. An inner face sheet having a plurality of face sheet apertures is coupled to the core by an inner thermoset adhesive sheet, which has a plurality of adhesive sheet apertures. Each of the plurality of adhesive sheet apertures is aligned within a corresponding one of the plurality of face sheet apertures so that the plurality of core cells are placed in fluid communication with airflow over the inner face sheet to create a Single Degree of Freedom (SDOF) acoustic liner.

A sandwich acoustic liner assembly includes a honeycomb core and a thermoplastic fabric sheet positioned in overlying relationship and structurally bonded with the honeycomb core. Further included is a method for fabricating a sandwich acoustic liner assembly which includes the steps of positioning a thermoplastic fabric sheet in overlying relationship with a honeycomb core and bonding structurally the thermoplastic fabric sheet to the honeycomb core.

Thermoplastic bonding process for acoustically treated linear facesheets

There is provided a robotic end effector assembly having a base configured to be connected to a robot. The base includes a robot adapter coupled to a base plate. The robotic end effector assembly further has a spindle support plate positioned substantially parallel with and coupled to the base plate, via two flexure members. The robotic end effector assembly further has a spindle disposed on the spindle support plate. The robotic end effector assembly further has an actuator coupled between the base plate and the spindle support plate. The actuator is configured to engage an actuator mount attached to the spindle support plate, to displace the spindle support plate. The flexure members inhibit an off-axis drilling motion, as the spindle support plate is displaced.
