A base module and an aviation computer system having the base module includes a printed circuit board, an integrated power supply and communication connector, a SMARC connector, and an FMC connector. A power supply circuit supplies the SMARC connector and the FMC connector with power from dedicated power supply contacts of the integrated power supply and communication connector, and a communication circuit connects the SMARC connector to dedicated communication contacts of the integrated power supply and communication connector. In addition, signal lines are provided on the printed circuit board in order to connect dedicated input/output contacts of the SMARC connector to corresponding dedicated input/output contacts of the FMC connector.

A method for connecting an optical waveguide embedded in a fiber composite component, in particular of an aircraft and spacecraft, to an external optical waveguide, comprising the following steps: ascertaining a path of the embedded optical waveguide in the fiber composite component; determining a nodal position at which the embedded optical waveguide is to be coupled with the external optical waveguide; exposing, at least in portions, the embedded optical waveguide at the nodal position by removing at least part of the fiber composite component around the embedded optical waveguide; severing the exposed embedded optical waveguide; aligning relative to each other an end portion of the severed, embedded optical waveguide and an end portion of the external optical waveguide; and splicing the mutually aligned end portions of the optical waveguides.

An avionics equipment carrier system for slide-in modules with data processing, data transmitting, data storage or data displaying devices, such as for example electronics printed circuit boards, network components, storage devices, display devices and the like, or power supply devices, includes a housing, at least one module rack for accommodating the slide-in modules and at least one backplane board with Ethernet connection architecture. When the dimensions of the housing comply with ARINC standards, and the housing is arranged for installation in an avionics module rack as a quick-mount housing, and any desired circuit boards of a specific standard format can be used in the slide-in modules which are designed as quick-mount modules.
