A rotor blade with a leading edge and a trailing edge is provided, wherein the rotor blade is designed and configured for being exposed to a fluid flowing substantially from the leading edge to the trailing edge, the rotor blade includes at least two sensors designed for detecting flow characteristics of the fluid and providing respective sensor signals, and the rotor blade further includes at least two actuators for producing an anti-noise signal based on a sensor signal, the sensors are arranged spanwise and the actuators are arranged chordwise at the surface of the rotor blade, and the actuators are arranged and prepared such that flow-induced edge noise of the rotor blade, which is generated by the fluid, is at least partly cancelled out by the anti-noise signal. Also provided is a method for creating such rotor blade and a related wind turbine.

Rotor blade with noise reduction means

A rotor blade with a leading edge and a trailing edge is provided, wherein the rotor blade is for being exposed to a fluid flowing substantially from the leading edge to the trailing edge, the rotor blade includes at least three sensors designed for detecting flow characteristics of the fluid and providing respective sensor signals, wherein the sensors are arranged with a non-uniform spacing, and the rotor blade further includes at least one actuator for producing an anti-noise signal based on a sensor signal, the sensors and the actuator are arranged at the surface of the rotor blade, and the actuator is arranged and prepared such that flow-induced edge noise of the rotor blade, which is generated by the fluid, is at least partly cancelled out by the anti-noise signal. A method for creating such rotor blade and a related wind turbine is also provided.

Rotor blade with noise reduction

A method of adapting noise emission configurations of plural wind turbines, the method including: determining total wind turbine related noise levels at plural locations; determining, among the plural locations, a critical location having a most critical, in particular highest, total wind turbine related noise level; if the most critical total wind turbine related noise level is above a noise threshold: reducing the noise emission configuration of a wind turbine having the highest noise to power impact ratio, is provided.

Noise control of wind turbine

Provided is an aerodynamic structure for mounting to a surface of a wind turbine rotor blade, which aerodynamic structure includes a plurality of rectangular comb elements and/or a plurality of angular comb elements, wherein a comb element includes comb teeth arranged in a comb plane that subtends an angle to the surface of the rotor blade. The embodiments further describe a wind turbine rotor blade including such an aerodynamic structure.

Aerodynamic structure

Provided is an aerodynamic structure for mounting to a surface of a wind turbine rotor blade, which aerodynamic structure includes a number of comb elements, a comb element including comb teeth arranged in a comb plane, wherein the comb plane of a mounted comb element is essentially perpendicular to the trailing edge of the rotor blade and to the airfoil surface of the rotor blade. A wind turbine rotor blade including at least one such aerodynamic structure, and a method of equipping a wind turbine rotor blade with such an aerodynamic structure, is also provided.

A rotor blade for a wind turbine is provided. The rotor blade includes a pressure side, a suction side, a leading edge section with a leading edge, and a trailing edge section with a trailing edge. An airflow flows along the surface of the rotor blade from the leading edge section to the trailing edge section and builds up a boundary layer in close proximity to the surface of the rotor blade. The rotor blade includes a noise reduction device for reducing noise which is generated by interaction of the airflow and the rotor blade. The noise reduction device is located within the boundary layer of the rotor blade. The noise reduction device includes a cover and connection device for connecting the cover to the surface of the rotor blade. The cover spans at least over a part of the surface of the rotor blade.

A rotor blade for a wind turbine, wherein the rotor blade includes serrations along at least a portion of the trailing edge section of the rotor blade is provided. The serrations include a first tooth and at least a second tooth, wherein the first tooth is spaced apart from the second tooth. Furthermore, the area between the first tooth and the second tooth is at least partially filled with a plurality of comb elements, wherein the comb elements are arranged substantially parallel to each other and in substantially chordwise direction of the rotor blade such that generation of noise in the trailing edge section of the rotor blade is reduced. The rotor blade is further characterized in that it includes a plurality of ridges including a first ridge and at least a second ridge for manipulating an airflow which is flowing along the ridges.

Rotor blade with a serrated trailing edge

A rotor blade with a leading edge and a trailing edge, wherein the rotor blade is designed and configured for being exposed to a fluid flowing substantially from the leading edge to the trailing edge) of the rotor blade, the rotor blade includes at least one sensor for detecting flow characteristics of the fluid, and the rotor blade further includes at least one actuator for producing an anti-noise signal. The sensor and the actuator are both arranged at the surface of the rotor blade, and the actuator is arranged and prepared such that flow-induced edge noise of the rotor blade, which is generated by the fluid, is at least partly cancelled out by the anti-noise signal. The disclosure furthermore relates to a wind turbine including at least one such rotor blade.

A wind turbine blade with a noise reducing device in the form of a serrated trailing edge, whereby said serrated trailing edge comprises stiffening ribs is provided. In one embodiment, the diameter of the stiffening ribs gradually decreases towards the outer end of the trailing edge. In a further embodiment, the stiffening ribs have rounded edges. In still a further embodiment, the serrated trailing edge has teeth, whereby a tooth is provided with a stiffening rib. In another embodiment, a wind turbine including a tower is provided, wherein an electrical generator with a rotor shaft and a hub to which wind turbine blades are connected, and wherein the wind turbine comprises wind turbine blades.

A wind turbine rotor blade is provided, having a root end, a tip end, a leading edge section, a trailing edge section and a serrated extension, wherein the serrated extension is attached to the trailing edge section and has at least a first tooth. Furthermore, the wind turbine rotor blade has at least one patterning element for guiding a wind flow which is flowing from the leading edge section to the trailing edge section such that noise which is generated at the trailing edge section is reduced. The patterning element has the shape of a ridge. Advantageously, the ridge-shaped patterning element is located upstream, compared to the first tooth, and/or is located on a surface of the first tooth. Furthermore, a method is provided to reduce noise which is generated at a trailing edge section of a wind turbine rotor blade.

Wind turbine rotor blade with serrated extension

An arrangement to reduce noise of a wind turbine rotor blade is provided, including a wind turbine rotor blade and a noise reduction device. The noise reduction device includes a serrated extension for at least reducing noise generated from the wind turbine rotor blade, the noise reduction device attached to the trailing edge section. The serrated extension has a number of first and second teeth. The designs of the first and second teeth are differently compared to each other such that suction side noise and pressure side noise are both reduced by the teeth of the serrated extension. Advantageously, the first teeth and the second teeth are arranged in an alternating, periodic pattern and differ from each other by an angle of inclination with regard to a trailing edge streamline and or by its planform shape. Furthermore, a method to reduce noise of a wind turbine rotor blade is provided.
