A heat exchanger includes a stack of plates which form ducts. Each of the plates can have at least two openings which, in the plate stack, form at least one collecting duct and one distributor duct which connect the ducts in terms of flow. A base plate can be arranged on the plate stack and can have a seal for sealing off the heat exchanger and a flow deflector for manipulating flow through the heat exchanger. The seal and the flow deflector can form a common component.

A heat exchanger unit that includes a plurality of first heat exchanger ducts formed by a plurality of plates configured for a first flow of a coolant, a plurality of second heat exchanger ducts formed by the plurality of plates configured for a second flow to be cooled by the first flow, a first inlet for the first flow, a first outlet for the first flow, a first inlet for the second flow, and a second outlet for the second flow. The heat exchanger unit further includes an inlet chamber for the first flow from which a partial flow of the first flow is branched off, conducted through the plurality of first heat exchanger ducts and circulated within the heat exchanger unit to the first outlet.

A heat exchanger includes a bundle of tubes, which can be inserted into a tubular housing. Exhaust gas can flow through the tubes. A coolant duct can be arranged between the tubes. The bundle of tubes can have at least one grid-like securing structure which supports the bundle in the housing. The behavior of the heat exchanger with respect to vibrations is affected by outwardly curved metallic springs attached to the bundle of tubes which may be deformed in the opposite direction to the insertion direction of the bundle into the housing. The spring force is directed against the housing in order to dampen vibrations. The heat exchanger can also include an elastic device for permitting a change in length caused by temperature changes.
