For producing a welded ring, a band of a length corresponding to the circumference of the ring is bent into a ring and its two ends are welded together. The band ends to be welded together have an offset in the circumferential direction of the ring, the offset lying in the plane of the band. The welding is performed from both lateral edges of the ring, from the outside to the inside up to the offset. Welding having an overall improved welding quality and a higher tensile strength is thus obtained.

Method for producing a welded ring

A shrink-fit ring, the two circumferential edges () of which are flanged, makes it possible to use thinner band thicknesses without the risk of buckling owing to its greater intrinsic strength. The circumferential edges () end in limbs () which point radially outwards and enclose an angle of approx. 70° to 90° with an unflanged centre portion () of the ring that is located axially further inwards. The flanging results in an extension of the diameter of the ring edges, wherein the ring edge regions () are bent outwards in a rounded manner and the edge surfaces () run at an angle of preferably approx. 0° to approx. 20° with respect to the ring axis ().

Shrink-fit collar

For producing a welded ring, a band having a length corresponding to the circumference of the ring is bent to form a ring and its two ends are welded together. The band ends to be welded together have an offset in the circumferential direction of the ring, the offset lying in the plane of the band. The welding is performed form both lateral edges of the ring from the outside up to the offset. This avoids an overlapping weld of a welding quality that is different at the centre of the ring from that at the edges.

Method of producing a welded ring

To close and tension a hose clamp, the two end portions of a clamping band, which overlap one another, are provided on surfaces that face one another and have toothed areas which are held in reciprocal engagement by a holding device. The toothed area of one end portion is formed on the outer face of a tongue, the width of the tongue being less than the full width of the band. The holding device has a raised area that is formed in the other end portion and bears the other toothed area on the inner face thereof. The raised area begins spaced from the free end of the other end portion with an outwardly projecting step that has an opening for the tongue to pass through.

Hose clamp

An open hose clamp with a tightening mechanism in the form of a so-called Oetiker ear. The tightened condition is locked by toothed portions which mutually engage outside the area of the ear on the side of the ear remote from the outer clamping band end. In the locked tightened condition, the ear is free of forces so that the hose clamp retains its clamping function even if the outward projecting ear is damaged.

A hose clamp with a tightening ear having a drop-shaped recess in the inner side of the clamping band in an area which contacts the hose, the recess counteracting a widening of the tightening ear after the hose clamp has been tightened.
