A system is configured to obtain locations of a mobile device () and obtain presence detection information. The locations are determined using visible light signals and dead reckoning information recorded at different moments. The presence detection information indicates presence detected using presence sensor devices () at the different moments. The system is further configured to obtain sensor locations and sensor fields of view, determine sensor orientations based on the locations of the mobile device, the sensor locations and the presence detection information, and determine a sensor coverage area (), comprising gaps in the sensor coverage area, based on the sensor locations, the sensor orientations and the sensor fields of view. The system is also configured to determine one or more parameters for presence detection based on the gaps in the sensor coverage area and output the parameters or a presence detection result which has been determined using the parameters.

Use of visible light signals for determining one or more parameters for presence detection

The invention provides a lighting device comprising a transmitter, a controller and a sensor; wherein the controller is configured to control the transmitter to repeatedly transmit a second wireless message interleaved with a first wireless message, wherein the first wireless message has a first duration and comprises a first signal, wherein the second wireless message has a second duration and comprises a second signal; wherein the first duration and/or the second duration is adaptive during a lifetime of the lighting device; wherein the controller is configured to receive a measurement from the sensor and control the transmitter to transmit the second wireless message comprising the second signal comprising the measurement.

Lighting device

A mobile object configured for movement in an area equipped with VLC illumination sources comprises a light sensor arranged to detect illumination from at least one of the illumination sources within the view of the light sensor; a computer arranged to determine from the detected illumination (i) a position of the mobile object relative to the at least one illumination source and (ii) the identifier of the at least one illumination source; and a transceiver. The transceiver can receive from another mobile object a message comprising the position of the other mobile object relative to a source of illumination, and the identifier of that source of illumination. From this, the computer determines from its position and the message a distance from the other mobile object. A mobile object which transmits such a message is also envisaged.

Indoor positioning system for mobile objects

A lighting system comprises multiple luminaries () installed at known locations in an environment. Each is configured to emit a unique luminaire identifier (ID) into the environment. A database () holds multiple location identifiers, each of which identifies one of the known locations. A route (rA, rB, rC, rD) through the environment is identified based on the location identifiers, the route traversing a plurality of the known locations. Data generated by moving a photodetector () along the route though the environment is received, the data conveying a sequence of the luminaire identifiers detected by the photodetector from luminaries encountered in moving along the route, the sequence being in order of detection. A database update is performed by, for at least one luminaire identifier in the sequence: identifying its position in the sequence, and updating the database based on the at least one luminaire identifier and its identified position in the sequence.

Maintaining a lighting system

The invention relates to a system () comprising a controlling device () like a sensor for controlling a controlled device () like a luminaire, a trigger unit () for generating a trigger signal, and an assigning unit () for assigning the controlling device and the controlled device to each other, if the trigger signal has been generated, wherein the controlling device controls the controlled device, if they have been assigned to each other. This allows an installer to generate assignments between the controlling device and the controlled device very easily. The installer just needs to connect the controlling and controlled devices, which should be assigned to each other, to the system and actuate the trigger unit. For instance, it can relatively easily be defined which luminaires should react on signals from which sensors.

System comprising a controlling device and a controlled device

The invention relates a system for controlling distribution of power to load elements via network connections (e.g. LAN). Low cost luminaires or other load elements can be powered via LAN connections (e.g. by power over Ethernet (PoE)) without featuring an Internet Protocol (IP) node. This is attractive because with such a system the installation cost down benefits of PoE can be applied also to installations that do not require advanced controls. This means that to switch them on or off, the power supply on the LAN port of the switch must be enabled or disabled. When load elements and load controllers (e.g. lighting controllers or light switches) are connected to the same switch, they are automatically paired to each other. This can be achieved through use of a network management protocol capability that some network switches have. This allows for easy installation and automatic intuitive commissioning.

Power distribution system with low complexity and low power consumption

The present invention relates to a controller () for controlling the light-output of two light-emitting devices (). The two light-emitting devices are adapted to provide a McCandless effect on an illuminated object (). The controller () comprises a first user interface for a user to set a first color () to be output by a first light-emitting device () and second user interface for a user to set a desired mixed color () of a common area () being illuminated by both light-emitting devices (). The controller () further comprises a processing circuitry for determining first lighting parameters resulting in said first color () when provided to the first light-emitting device (), and for determining second lighting parameters resulting in a second color () when provided to a second light-emitting device (). A mix of the first color () and the second color () provides the mixed color (). The first color () and the mixed color () are represented in a color space chromaticity diagram such that they define a line and the second color () is determined such that it is located on said line in the color space chromaticity diagram on an opposite side of the desired mixed color () relative to the first color (). Further, the second color () is determined by the processing circuitry such that the desired mixed color () is achieved when the first () and the second () colors are mixed.

Controller for light-emitting devices

Light-emitting devices () and methods for operating light-emitting devices are disclosed. Each of the light-emitting devices () comprises a plurality of light sources (A-F) for illuminating a target (), wherein each of the light sources is configured to emit light within a predetermined color range. Each of the light-emitting devices comprises means () for automatically adjusting the spectral power distribution of light-emitted by the light-emitting device on basis of the color of the target or a region of the target illuminated by the light-emitting device, such that light emitted by the light-emitting device is made increasingly compliant or even compliant with a criteria of a predetermined color characteristics.

Light system for emphasizing objects

The disclosed embodiments relate to a luminaire () comprising an array of LEDs (). The array of LEDs () comprises LEDs chosen from the group of blue LED, green LED, red LED, yellow LED, amber LED, cyan LED, and white LED. The luminaire () further comprises a reflecting tube () and said array of LEDs () is arranged in an entrance aperture () of said reflecting tube (). At least one light source () is arranged circumferentially around the reflecting tube (). The at least one light source () comprises at least one LED chosen from the group of deep blue LEDs, royal blue LEDs, deep red LEDs and UV LEDs. An optical component (), is arranged to transmit light emitted from the at least one light source () into light emitted from the array of LEDs ().

Luminaire emitting light of different colours

A lighting device comprising a plurality of light emitting elements (), and a beam shaping optics () having an entrance aperture (). Each light emitting element is optically connected to a set of optical fibers () each having a first end optically connected to the light emitting element and a second end optically connected to the entrance aperture (), so as to guide collimated light from the light emitting element to the beam shaping optics (). The light emitting elements are distributed over an area larger than the entrance aperture ().

A system comprises a light source and an electrode device (). The light source comprises a base () with a base surface () on which at least two contact elements are provided. The electrode device has at least two electrodes (), preferably of ferromagnetic or electromagnetic material and having a different polarity during operation. Adjacent electrodes are arranged at a predetermined electrode distance. Both electrodes are provided in one layer and are arranged in an interdigitated configuration. The light source has at least two, but preferably four contact elements () arranged at a mutual spacing which is essentially compatible with said electrode distance.

Lighting system, electrode device and light source

The invention relates to a directable magnetic mount () for a light emitter (). The invention also relates to a light source (), to a base () and to an illumination system (). The directable magnetic mount comprises interface means () configured for conducting thermal energy away from the light emitter to a heat sink (), and comprises a magnetic connector () configured for magnetically connecting the directable magnetic mount to the base. The magnetic connector is configured for thermally interconnecting the interface means and the heat sink. The interface means is configured for being thermally connected to the heat sink at a plurality of orientations of the interface means with respect to the heat sink. Each of the plurality of orientations of the interface means comprises a different emission direction of the light emitter. The effect of the measures according to the invention is that it enables to omit the need for a heat sink in the light source which enables to reduce the size of the light source while also allowing to reposition and redirect the light emitted from the illumination system.

Directable magnetic mount for light emitter, a light source, a base and an illumination system

A method and a system for controlling at least one lighting arrangement (), in which the lighting arrangement modulates the light () it emits by lighting arrangement data, which contains an identification code identifying the lighting arrangement, a user control device () is suitable to receive the light from the lighting arrangement and to derive therefrom the lighting arrangement data, the user control device measures a property of the received light, apart from it representing data, to provide additional data which is associated with the lighting arrangement which is associated with the identification code contained in the received data, the user control device transmits the lighting arrangement data and the additional data, and a main control device () is suitable to receive the data transmitted by the user control device and to therewith control the operation of the lighting arrangement.

Method and system for lighting control

A system () and/or corresponding method introduces a minor change to a given set of parameters () that affect an ambiance () associated with an environment, and collects the user's response to the change. Based on the user's response, the system learns which changes to which parameters lead to an improved effect. By repeating the change-feedback sessions, the system approaches an optimal setting for achieving the desired ambiance in the given environment. Preferably, the change-feedback session is non-obtrusive, and occurs, for example, each time a light is turned on, and the feedback is collected when the light is turned off, using a multiple switch arrangement. If the light is turned off using one switch, the feedback is positive; if the light is turned off using an alternative switch, the feedback is negative. Alternatively, the system can be placed in a rapid-learning mode, wherein the change-feedback cycles occur more frequently.

Self-learning lighting system

An illumination system, preferably for illumination in a car, comprising at least one plain or slightly curved, solid light guide () made of transparent material, said light guide receiving light from a light () source and being provided with means () for extracting light from said light guide, the means for extracting light from said light guide have. Reflecting surfaces () the slopes of which are varied as a function of the position of the extracting means in the light guide as well as the position of a reading plane, so as to direct the light flux to a desired reading plane position.
