To be able to insert bands of an arbitrary length into a machine unit, for example intermediate carrier bands given an electrophotographic printer device, the band is seated on tubes. The tubes are pushed into receptacles arranged in the machine unit. The band can then be slipped over the transport and guide drums arranged in the machine unit. Subsequently, the band is tensed and the tubes are pulled from the receptacles.

An apparatus and a method for guiding a belt-shaped continuous carrier material in an electrographic printer or copier provides that a continuous belt-shaped carrier material is guided over at least one roller element, the roller element having a trail with respect to the conveying direction of the carrier material. Further, a device for guiding a continuous belt-shaped carrier material in an electrographic printer or copier is provided, in which a roller element can be displaced and/or tilted transversely to the carrier material.

A printer or copier has a toner transfer belt which is moved into an out of engagement with a transfer printing area. The toner transfer belt is carried on an arrangement of rollers that maintain a constant tension on the toner transfer belt. Rigid linking levers extend between the rollers of the roller arrangement so that belt tension is maintained by movement of compensation rollers, outward while moving a transfer roller upward, for example.
