A method to securely collect diagnostic information from an IT product is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes contacting, by an IT product, an external service provider. Upon contacting the external service provider, the IT product checks a database of the external service provider to determine if diagnostic information associated with the IT product needs to be collected. If diagnostic information needs to be collected, an authorization request is sent to an administrator of the IT product. If the authorization request is approved, the IT product collects the diagnostic information and transmits the diagnostic information to the external service provider. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

A distributed node service management system utilizes multiple existing processor nodes of a distributed computing system, in support of the primary data processing functions of the distributed computing system. The distributed node service management system coordinates and manages service functions on behalf of processor nodes of the distributed computing system. Other features and aspects may be realized, depending upon the particular application.

Service management modes of operation in distributed node service management

For deploying a validated data storage deployment is disclosed, a processor generates one or more desired data storage parameters for a data storage deployment. The data storage parameters identify data storage hardware and corresponding software prerequisites, an operating system, and drivers. In addition, the processor identifies a first validated data storage deployment that has a greatest number of the desired data storage parameters of the validated data storage deployments from the data storage parameter repository. In response to identifying the first validated data storage deployment, the processor deploys the validated data storage deployment at a data storage system by activating the data storage hardware and installing the software prerequisites, the operating system, and the drivers of the first validated data storage deployment on the data storage hardware at the data storage system via a network.

Embodiments for exchanging data information packets, by a processor device, include writing an Internet Protocol (IP) information unit received by a host node executing a Fibre Connection (FICON) software library to a transport layer by converting the IP information unit to FICON payload and placing the FICON payload into a shared memory space of the host node; and transmitting data including the IP information unit to a target node by accessing the FICON payload in the shared memory by a FICON adapter of the host node and transferring the FICON payload to the target node over a FICON network.

A remote-access session is initiated. A first command for execution on the customer system is received via the remote-access session. It is determined that the first command complies with the system management policy, and in response, the first command is executed on the customer system. A first unit of data generated in response to executing the first command is identified. It is determined that providing the first unit of data to a remote-access support system complies with the system management policy. The first unit of data is provided to the remote-access support system via the remote-access session.

The SDS solution has not been validated with a test suite. The processor further validates the given SDS solution based on the SDS field data.

Call-home systems are configured and utilized. A log file is presented on a user interface of a computing device. One or more interactions that are associated with one or more instructions to modify the log file are detected on the user interface. One or more modifications to the log file are applied to the log file based on the one or more interactions. The one or more modifications include at least one of a modification that omits information from the log file, a modification that redacts information in the log file, and a modification that obfuscates information in the log file. The modified version of the log file is transferred to a call-home server based on one or more data transfer options.

Configuring and utilizing call-home systems

A method includes a computing device receiving at least one sensor reading from at least one sensor on a user's device; the computing device determining at least one setting on the user's device based upon the received at least one sensor reading; the computing device detecting a change from the at least one sensor that could affect an optimal setting for the determined at least one setting; and notifying a user that the detected change has occurred.
