A sensor unit has a sensor element which has a substrate and a plurality of optical components, which are integrated into the substrate, and form a plurality of integrated optical sensors. The optical sensors are an optical current sensor based on the Faraday effect, an optical voltage sensor based on the Pockels effect, an optical strain sensor and/or a wavelength sensor. Response signals from the individual sensors are evaluated in an evaluation unit, wherein the response signals from the expansion sensor and/or from the wavelength sensor are preferably used for evaluating the response signals from the other sensors.

Sensor unit

An optical coupler is used to optically couple a multicore fiber with multiple optical cores to multiple individual fibers and contains a support in which the multicore fiber is embedded, the cores exiting at a polished end surface. The cores are assembled into groups along lines, and each group is oriented along a line. Waveguides of multiple planar support elements, the waveguides being introduced into the surface of the support elements, are connected to the end surface, each group of cores being coupled into a support element. In this manner, the multicore fiber can be coupled to individual fibers using planar waveguide technology.

Optical coupler for a multicore fiber

A slip ring arrangement is simple to produce for contactless data transmission for high-frequency data signals, wherein two optical components are provided which are rotatable relative to one another about a common axis of rotation. The first optical component has a plurality of optical fibers which are disposed along at least one circular arc segment having a radius on a first end face. For this purpose the fibers are guided in a first carrier which has a coupling surface to which a first planar optical waveguide chip configured as a combiner is coupled.

Optical slip ring arrangement

A coating is applied on a first end face of an optical component which includes a cladding and a core for guiding light. The first end face has a cladding front face and a core front face. The core front face is covered with a mask, the coating is applied onto the first end face, the coating s removed from the masked core front face, and for covering the core front face, a lacquer layer made of a photo resist is applied onto the first end face. The photo resist is exposed to light from the rear side only in the region of one of the front faces such that light is input on the second end face of the component only in one of the two regions, and the lacquer layer is subsequently selectively removed.

Method for applying a coating onto an end face of an optical component for guiding light and optical component

An optical assembly, which is in particular in the form of a splitter component with a so-called splitter forming a passive optical component, is produced particularly inexpensively. In a first step a plurality of splitters are produced on a common wafer by forming a corresponding conductor track pattern. In a second step optical fibers are coupled simultaneously to the connection sides of the individual splitters with the aid of a connection carrier. Then, in a third step the individual splitters with the connection carriers connected thereto are separated form one another. Only one common coupling operation for a large number of splitters is required. The splitters may then be connected to form a splitter cascade.
