The invention having functional vertical disposable reaction systems having a vertically mounted semipermeable membrane for sample preparation, chemical reactions, dialysis, enzymatic/microbiological fermentation, multistage processes, in vitro protein biosynthesis on a laboratory scale, formed from a base body and an exchangeable lid having different functions. For exchange across the membrane, the system is placed vertically into an outer volume consisting of gas, liquid or solid constituents. The system consists of a dimensionally stable base body and a liquid-tight lid having a functional support going toward the base of the base body, the dimensionally stable base body forming at least one noncapillary reaction space as inner volume with at least one semipermeable membrane as lateral wall. The high flexibility in use results from the combination of variants of the base bodies with different lid variants for different areas of use. The base bodies having different membranes and volumes can be coupled with lids having different feeding openings, contacts, sensor supports, gas supply means, circulation means, etc. This yields, in the case of m different base bodies and n different lid variants, m×n combinations having different properties.

System for implementing biological or chemical methods

A reaction vessel for a vertical operating position geometrically bits into a standard receiving vessel providing an outer volume, for example a centrifuge tube, microplates and deep well plates. The reaction vessel including at least one upper opening with a seal element for reversible sealing for typical liquid handling techniques for filling, emptying mixing and gassing; at least one upper opening for pressure balancing and overrun; and a form stable body which forms at least one non capillary reaction cavity as an inner volume with at least one semipermeable membrane as a side wall. The at least one upper opening with the seal element for reversible sealing for standard liquid handling for filling, emptying, mixing and gassing leads through at least one capillary channel in the form stable body vertically into a lower portion of the reaction vessel and forms an opening at this location.

Vertical functional reaction vessel

A device is provided by means of which biomolecules in samples in a volume range from &#x3c;1 &#x3bc;l to 500 &#x3bc;l can be received, treated and stored in a quick, reproducible and loss-free manner as easily, effortlessly and practically as possible, and without any risk of damaging the device. The device includes sample vessels that are configured, in terms of size and shape, as dimensionally and positionally stable capillaries that are open at both ends, the longitudinal walls of which are completely or partially made of a semi-permeable membrane.

Device for receiving, treating, and storing small volume samples

An airbag cover is defined by a predetermined breaking line which is introduced into a shaped flat material in a recessed manner. The recesses are achieved by removing material by means of laser radiation. According to the invention, the flat material is provided with a barrier layer. The barrier layer, by reason of its material properties, has greater resistance to removal of material by laser action than the material of the rest of the flat material. The recesses made by removing material extend along the predetermined breaking line in the flat material up to the barrier layer. The barrier layer makes it possible to produce a predetermined breaking line by means of laser machining which allows an exact residual wall thickness of the airbag cover in the area of the predetermined breaking line, so that the tearing strength can be adjusted very accurately, which is critically important for a reliable deployment of an airbag. Further, a method for the efficient production of an airbag cover of this type is indicated.
