A circuit breaker rotary contact arm is used within a plurality of single pole modules ganged together to form a single multi-pole circuit breaker. To provide for use in quiescent conditions having high ampere ratings, low ampere rated rotary contact arm assemblies are combined in parallel to form a higher rated single pole module, which are then ganged together to form a single multi-pole circuit breaker having a high quiescent ampere rating.

Modular contact system for different frame sizes

A circuit breaker rotary contact arm is used within a plurality of single pole circuit breakers ganged together to form a single multi-pole circuit breaker. To provide uniform contact wear among the associated circuit breaker contacts, the rotor carrying the rotary contact arm pivot is slotted to automatically position the rotary contact arm to allow for changes in the contact geometry while maintaining constant contact compressive forces. The individual circuit breakers connect with the central operation mechanism by means of a single pin.

Rotary contact assembly for high ampere-rated circuit breaker

A rotary double-break circuit breaker includes a case defining a circuit breaker enclosure with a rotatable bridge and contact arm arrangement. The contact arm having movable contacts which is rotatable between a closed position and an open position. A pair of stationary contacts cooperate with the movable contacts, and a conductor is operatively connected to each of the stationary contacts for current input thereto. Each of the movable contacts includes a heel portion and a toe portion, the heel portion contacting one of the stationary contacts and the toe portion spaced from the stationary contact when the contact bridge is in closed position, the movable contact being angled or curved relative to the stationary contact such that upon the contact bridge rotating to disengage the movable contacts from the stationary contacts, an electric arc formed between the movable contact and the stationary contact runs to the toe portion of the movable contact thereby protecting the heel portion from substantial damage.

Arcing contact arrangement

A rotary contact circuit breaker having a venting arrangement to vent gasses operated by a short circuit interruption to a location substantially above the load strap of the breaker whereby electrical components are not damaged by the gasses and ionized gasses from different phases are conveyed in discrete channels for a period exceeding the period during which ionization is present.
