A redundantly operated industrial communication system includes communication devices that are redundantly linked to an industrial communication network and includes network infrastructure devices associated with the industrial communication network, wherein message transmission occurs wirelessly at least in sections. The industrial communication network contains a plurality of buffer memory units for message elements that are received at a network node by wire and message elements that are to be sent by the network node wirelessly. When a maximum buffer size is exceeded, an oldest message element situated in a respective buffer memory unit is erased. Until the maximum buffer size is exceeded, the oldest message element is selected as the next message element to be sent wirelessly.

Redundantly operable industrial communication system and method for operation thereof

The present invention describes a wireless network, in particular for automation, realtime and/or industrial applications, having at least two access network nodes and at least one radio station for wireless communication with at least one of the at least two access network nodes, wherein each of the at least two access network nodes uses a data channel selected from a set of available selectable data channels for wireless communication with a radio station assigned to it in each case, wherein a control communication channel which is distinct from the selectable data channels is provided in addition, and each of the at least two access network nodes is embodied for wirelessly sending information messages over the control communication channel and the at least one radio station is embodied for receiving the control communication channel.

Wireless network for automation, realtime and/or industrial applications

A method for switching channels in a wireless communication network comprising at least one access point and clients, wherein the communication network as secondary user uses one of a number of possible channels for data communication. In accordance with the invention, data communication occurs between the access point and the number of clients through the first transmit/receive interface of the access point on a first channel. Parallel to the data communication, a check of the possible channels occurs over the transmit/receive interface by a second transmit/receive interface of the access point to determine which of the channels are free channels that are not being used by any primary users. A channel switch from the first channel to one of the free channels occurs if a prioritized use of the first channel by a primary user is established by the access point of the communication network.

Method for switching channels in a wireless communication network

A data communication system includes an access point and a plurality of stations each for exchanging wireless data communication messages with the access point. At least some of the messages are in a format that includes at least one message header and a plurality of data units. Each of the data units includes a respective data unit header and a respective data frame. Each data unit header identifies a respective one of the stations as a recipient to receive the respective data frame of the data unit.
