In a fuel system for an internal combustion engine, the fuel is pumped by a high-pressure fuel pump into a fuel pressure accumulator, from which it is supplied into at least one combustion chamber via at least one injector. A value is provided for the actual pressure in the fuel pressure accumulator. A pressure regulating device using which the fuel may be extracted from the fuel pressure accumulator is precontrolled using a precontrol signal, which is ascertained taking into account a setpoint pressure in the fuel pressure accumulator. A value for a fuel quantity flowing through the pressure regulating device is taken into account when ascertaining the precontrol signal.

A method for operating a fuel injection system of a motor vehicle in particular is described. The fuel injection system has a fuel accumulator, capable of receiving fuel via a metering unit. In the method, an actual pressure in the fuel accumulator is affected by an I regulator, among other things. A precontrol value is generated by a precontrol characteristic map, which is used for compensating manufacturing-related differences in the components of the fuel injection system.

The method and arrangement make possible a reliable detection of a fault condition for an essentially constant actuation of an operator-controlled element. The torque, which is to be monitored, is compared to a permissible torque. The permissible torque is readjusted to the torque, which is to be monitored. A fault is detected when the torque, which is to be monitored, deviates from the permissible torque by more than a first pregiven value. The fault is only detected for the case wherein a position of an operator-controlled element, especially an accelerator pedal position, lies within a pregiven tolerance range at least since a first pregiven time.

A method and a device for monitoring data and the transmission of data between at least one first control unit and one second control unit are provided. Method, computer program, and control and/or regulating device for operating an internal combustion engine

The plausibility check takes place in such a way that a first piece of load information is derived as a function of the throttle valve position and a differential pressure determined from the pressure upstream of the throttle valve and the pressure downstream of the throttle valve. In addition, a second piece of load information is derived as a function of the intake valve lift and the engine speed. The smaller of the two pieces of load information is compared with the measured load. If this measured load deviates from the load information an error of the measured load is signaled.

In a method and device for driving an electromagnetic load, especially a solenoid valve, which influences the fuel quantity to be injected into an internal combustion engine, the duration of the drive of the solenoid valve can be corrected by a delay time.
