The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a mobility node for handling a UE which has moved from an old to a new location. The mobility node retrieves UE context from a database. The mobility node determines whether there is a change of mobility node and first gateway at the new location. When there is a change of the first gateway, the mobility node initiates setup of a tunnel between a second gateway and a new first gateway. When there is a change of the mobility node, the mobility node provides a subscriber server with UE context for a new mobility node at the new location. The mobility node transmits updated UE context to the database.

Method and nodes for handling a UE which has moved from an old location to a new location

Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a stateless mobility management node, and corresponding methods therein, for handling a mobility procedure for a wireless device within a wireless communications network. The example embodiments provide for the management of a common external database shared by the stateless mobility management node and at least one other stateless mobility management node, and storing context information for wireless devices served by the stateless mobility management nodes. Such management allows for migrating the network towards a virtualized and stateless architecture. Thus, stateless mobility management nodes with an external database may interoperate with legacy stateful mobility management nodes.

The server ascertains if a user MTC device has an IP connection to a cellular access network, and if so, sends a message to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message. If a user MTC device does not have an IP connection, the server ascertains if the user MTC device is a mobile or a stationary user MTC device, and for a stationary user MTC device, the server sends a message to the cellular access network to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an IP connection, and for a mobile user MTC device, waits until the user MTC device has an IP connection, and for both kinds of user MTC devices, when the user MTC device has an IP connection, transmits a message to the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message.

A method, device, and computer program product for facilitating device-to-device, D2D, communication among wireless communication devices, WCDs, is provided. The device is a first WCD that receives a wireless packet broadcasted by a second WCD. The wireless packet has one or more of i) a group identifier that identifies a group to which the second WCD belongs and ii) an application identifier that identifies an application which generated at least part of the wireless packet. The first WCD extracts from the wireless packet one or more of the group identifier and the application identifier. The first WCD determines whether to discard the wireless packet based on the one or more of the group identifier and the application identifier extracted from the wireless packet.

Methods, devices, and computer program products for facilitating device-to-device communication among wireless communication devices

A method performed by a first network node operating in a wireless communication network for enabling events triggered by a wireless device served by the first network node to be reported in the wireless communications network is provided. The first network node determines that an event has been triggered by the wireless device. Then, the first network node context information associated with the wireless device from a database node that is shared externally by the first network node with one or more network nodes in the wireless communications network, which context information indicates that events triggered in the first network node by the wireless device is to be reported in the wireless communications network. After the obtaining, the first network node determines that events triggered by the wireless device is to be reported in the wireless communications network based on the obtained context information.

In a first aspect of the invention, a method is performed by a home network proximity service function () for authorizing a mobile terminal () to use a proximity service, comprising receiving a request from the mobile terminal to obtain proximity service authorization in at least one other network (), obtaining authorization information from a proximity service function () of the at least one other network for which proximity service authorization is requested, and providing the mobile terminal with authorization information required for authorization with said at least one other network for which the request is made.

In one embodiment, a packet date core network node in a first core network comprises a first communication mechanism for control plane handling and mobility management, a second communication mechanism for user plane management and a mechanism for communication with a dual mode mobile terminal over a first radio network. The packet data core network node comprises or communicates with a mapping function for mapping between first radio bearers used in the first core and radio networks and second radio bearers of a type different from the type of the first radio bearers and used in a second core radio network at handover of a dual mode mobile terminal from the first core network to the second core network or vice versa. A method and apparatus for caching mobile station location information comprising a gateway packet switch node for receiving and transmitting data packets between a plurality of visiting packet switch nodes and at least one communication network and a cache memory located within the gateway packet switch node for caching location information received with a data packet from a transmitting mobile station. A communication packet, containing information pertaining to the location of a transmitting mobile station is received by the gateway packet switch node. The location information is extracted from the received communication packet and cached. When an incoming data packet is received by the gateway packet switch node, a determination is made as to whether the location information for the destination mobile station is stored within the cache. If the location information is stored within the cache the location information is retrieved from the cache and the data packet is routed to the mobile station. A method, and associated apparatus, for providing a wireless communication station with a dynamically-assigned address which provides a temporary address to route data to the wireless communication station. A temporary address is assigned to the wireless communication station to permit data, such as packet data, to be communicated between the wireless communication station and a correspondent host. Once communication with the wireless communication station is terminated, the temporary address can be reassigned and reused pursuant to subsequent communications with another wireless communication station.
