A process for the purification of isobutene from a C4 stream with at least 1-butene, 2-butene, isobutane and isobutene includes isomerizing 1-butene from a stream of material which is concentrated in isobutane and isobutene obtained from the C4 stream into 2-butene, using a catalyst in an isomerization reactor; supplying a product stream from the isomerization reactor to a rectification column; and providing a stream of material which is concentrated in isobutene. A processing facility is utilized for the purification of isobutene from the C4 stream.

The invention relates to a process for removing dienes from a material stream comprising Cto Chydrocarbons by selective hydrogenation at a specified reaction pressure and a specified reaction temperature in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, wherein the reaction pressure and the reaction temperature at the reactor inlet are regulated such that the reaction pressure at the reactor inlet does not deviate by more than 0.01 bar from the specified reaction pressure and the reaction temperature at the reactor inlet does not deviate by more than 0.1&#xb0; C. from the specified reaction temperature and the proportion of hydrogen supplied to the selective hydrogenation is in the range from 2 to 20 moles per mole of diene present in the material stream comprising Cto Chydrocarbons.

A reactor for carrying out a three-phase reaction of a liquid phase, a gaseous phase, and a catalyst over a fixed catalyst bed is disclosed. The liquid and gaseous phases are passed through the reactor via a mixing and distribution device positioned over the fixed catalyst bed. The mixing and distribution device includes a trough distributor for the liquid phase, having trough-shaped channels, outlet tubes in the trough-shaped channels for the liquid phase, a distributor plate below the trough distributor, and vertical nozzles, having one or more openings for the gaseous phase and one or more openings, arranged below the openings for the gaseous phase. For entry of the liquid phase, the nozzles are installed so that, at a predetermined liquid feed rate, the surface of the liquid on the distributor plate is below the openings for the gaseous phase and above the openings for the liquid phase.
