A device may include a receive (Rx) antenna input to couple an Rx antenna to an Rx chain, and a signal coupler to inject the test signal toward the Rx antenna. The device may include an Rx antenna switch to, in a first switch state, cause the Rx antenna to be isolated from the Rx chain and, in a second switch state, permit the test signal to probe the Rx antenna. The Rx chain may measure a phasor of a first baseband signal generated based on a first reflected test signal and a phasor of a second baseband signal generated based on a second reflected test signal. The device may include a control circuit to compute a complex ratio based on the phasors, compute a measured reflection coefficient based on the complex ratio and using a transfer function, and monitor an impedance matching of the Rx antenna.

A radar monolithic microwave integrated circuit includes a radio frequency (RF) input configured to receive an RF signal comprising a plurality of frequency ramps; a baseband processing circuit configured to convert the RF signal into a baseband signal comprising a plurality of analog signal segments each corresponding to a different frequency ramp; an analog-to-digital converter configured to convert the plurality of analog signal segments into a plurality of respective digital signal segments, wherein each digital signal segment of the plurality of respective digital signal segments comprises a plurality of digital samples corresponding to a respective analog signal segment; and an encoder configured to receive a single digital signal segment and compress the plurality of digital samples of the single digital signal segment based on a data compression that has a defined correlation with a windowing function to generate compressed radar data corresponding to the single digital signal segment.

Radar data compression

A method for monitoring an RF receiver includes generating of a digital test signal based on a signal, wherein the digital test signal includes a stream of digital test samples having a digital test sample; generating a monitoring signal based on the digital test signal; and coupling of the monitoring signal into a receiver path. The monitoring signal is processed in the receiver path to generate a processed monitoring signal and a stream of digital monitoring samples representing the processed monitoring signal. Information is determined indicating at least one property related to the receiver path based on a processing of a set of digital monitoring samples of the stream of digital monitoring samples. The set of digital monitoring samples includes a digital monitoring sample. The method further includes controlling the RF receiver such that the digital monitoring sample is generated a predetermined time duration after generating the digital test sample.

Method for monitoring a radio frequency receiver and semiconductor device

A radar system includes a first radar chip having one or more receiving channels and a second radar chip having one or more receiving channels, wherein the receiving channels of the first and second radar chips each have an RF input port and are configured to provide, based on an RF input signal received at the RF input port, a corresponding digital baseband signal that is characterizable by at least one signal parameter. The radar system further includes a power divider configured to forward an RF signal to both a first receiving channel integrated in the first radar chip and to a second receiving channel integrated in the second radar chip. A processor is configured to determine information indicating a deviation between the signal parameter of the digital baseband signal of the first receiving channel and the corresponding signal parameter of the digital baseband signal of the second receiving channel.

In accordance with an embodiment, an RF system includes a transmit path having a first tunable transmit band stop filter, and a power amplifier coupled to an output of the first tunable transmit band stop filter, where the first tunable transmit band stop filter is configured reject a receive frequency and pass a transmit frequency; a receive path comprising an LNA; and a duplex filter having a transmit path port coupled to an output of the power amplifier, a receive path port coupled to an input of the LNA, and an antenna port, where the duplex filter is configured to pass the transmit frequency and reject the receive frequency between the antenna port and the transmit path port, pass the receive frequency and reject the transmit frequency between the antenna port and the receive path port.

System and method for a radio frequency filter

In accordance with an embodiment, an RF system includes a transmit path having a transmit RF filter and an adjustable transmit phase shifter/matching network coupled between the transmit RF filter and a transmit antenna port, where the adjustable transmit phase shifter/matching network is configured to transform an impedance of the transmit RF filter at a receive frequency from a first lower impedance to a first higher impedance at the transmit antenna port; and a receive path having a receive RF filter and an adjustable receive phase shifter/matching network coupled between the receive RF filter and a receive antenna port, where the adjustable receive phase shifter/matching network is configured to transform an impedance of the receive RF filter at a transmit frequency from a second lower impedance to a second higher impedance at the receive antenna port.

In accordance with an embodiment, a method of operating an RF system includes generating a first RF signal having a first frequency; filtering the generated first RF signal to form a first filtered transmitted signal; producing a first coupled signal and a first transmitted signal from the first filtered transmitted signal; transmitting the first transmitted signal; transmitting a second RF signal having a second frequency; bandpass filtering the first coupled signal to form a first tunable bandpass filtered signal; and measuring a parameter of the first tunable bandpass filtered signal.

An apparatus for adjusting a component in a receiver system to eliminate distortion. The apparatus may include a receiver system and a tuning circuit. The receiver system may process a tracking signal to generate an output signal. The tracking signal may include a radio frequency (RF) signal and a test signal. The processing of the first tracking signal may introduce a distortion into the output signal. The tuning circuit may be operatively coupled to the receiver system. The tuning circuit may determine an adjustment value and send the adjustment value to the receiver system. The receiver system may adjust a component of the receiver system using the adjustment value to eliminate the distortion in a second RF signal that is caused by the component.

Adjusting parameters of a receiver system

In accordance with an embodiment, a method of operating an RF system includes filtering a first wideband RF signal using a wideband filter bank. Filtering the first RF signal includes separating the first wideband RF signal into frequency cluster signals, where each frequency cluster signal of the frequency cluster signals includes different frequency ranges, the first wideband RF signal includes multiple RF bands, and each of the different frequency ranges comprises a plurality of RF bands of the multiple RF bands. The method further includes band stop filtering at least one of the frequency cluster signals to produce a band stopped frequency cluster signal.

In accordance with an embodiment, a method of operating an RF system includes filtering a wideband RF signal using an adjustable center frequency bandpass filter to produce a filtered RF signal; amplifying the filtered RF signal to produce an amplified RF signal; and band stop filtering the amplified RF signal to produce a band stopped RF signal.

Embodiments of chip-package and corresponding methods of manufacture are provided. In an embodiment of a chip-package, the chip-package includes: a carrier having a first side and a second side opposing the first side; a first chip coupled to the first side of the carrier; a second chip coupled to the second side of the carrier; an encapsulation with a first portion, which at least partially encloses the first chip on the first side of the carrier, and a second portion, which at least partially encloses the second chip on the second side of the carrier; a via extending through the first portion of the encapsulation, the carrier and the second portion of the encapsulation; and an electrically conductive material at least partly covering a sidewall of the via in the first portion or the second portion of the encapsulation, to electrically contact the carrier at either side.
