The present invention relates a photovoltaic module comprising a protective front layer element, an encapsulation layer element, a photovoltaic cell element and a protective back layer element, whereby at least one of the protective elements comprises glass; wherein the encapsulation layer element comprises a polymer composition (I) comprising at least the following components: (A) 97.00 to 99.99 wt.-% based on the overall weight of the polymer composition (I) of a polymer selected from an ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer, a polyolefin elastomer or a polymer of ethylene (a) selected from (a1) a copolymer of ethylene which bears functional groups containing units; (a2) a copolymer of ethylene comprising one or more polar comonomer unit(s) selected from (C1-C6)-alkyl acrylate or (C1-C6)-alkyl (C1-C6)-alkyl acrylate comonomer units, and optionally bears functional groups containing units different from said polar comonomer unit(s); (a3) a copolymer of ethylene comprising one or more alpha-olefin comonomer unit(s); and optionally bears functional groups containing units different from said polar comonomer unit(s) of polymer (a2); or mixtures thereof; and (b) silane group(s) containing units; (B) 0.01 to 3.00 wt.-% based on the overall weight of the polymer composition (I) of a compound according to Formula (I); wherein; R, R, Rand Rare each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, n-alkyl, iso-alkyl, alkoxy, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, halogen and mixtures thereof; X is selected from the group consisting of primary amines, secondary amines, tertiary amines, hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl and mixtures thereof. Furthermore, the present invention refers to the use of an encapsulation layer element comprising polymer composition (I) according to the invention for increasing the Pdetermined after 96 h according to IEC 60904, by applying the foil method with a temperature of 85° C. and relative humidity of 60% and a potential difference of 1500 V, of a photovoltaic module comprising besides the encapsulation layer element a protective front layer element, a photovoltaic cell element and a protective back element, whereby at least one of the protective elements comprises glass.

Photovoltaic module with increased resistance against potential induced degradation

The present invention discloses a process for providing a cross-linked composition, the process comprising the steps of (a) providing an ethylene-α-olefin plastomer having—a density of from 850 kg/mto 900 kg/m; and—an melt flow rate (ISO 1133, 2.16 kg, 190° C.) of 0.3 to 50 g/10 min; (b) grafting the ethylene-α-olefin plastomer with silane crosslinker such that the content of silane crosslinker is in the range of 0.1 to 10.0 wt. % with respect to the grafted ethylene-α-olefin plastomer; (c) contacting said grafted ethylene-α-olefin plastomer with 2 to 8 wt. % of a tin-free silane crosslinking catalyst with respect to the resulting mixture of grafted ethylene-α-olefin plastomer and tin-freesilane crosslinking catalyst, wherein said tin-free catalyst comprises a Brönsted acid at 23° C. and 50% relative humidity for at least 15 minutes thus forming a cross-linked composition, wherein gel content of said cross-linked composition after 15 min is at least 60%.

High speed cross-linking of grafted plastomers

Articles comprising a polymer composition, wherein the polymer composition is obtainable by grafting an ethylene copolymer with comonomer units comprising hydrolysable silane groups, wherein the polymer composition shows high gel content and low compression set at −25° C. These articles have applications in automotive weather-stripping, such as sealing systems for doors, trunks and hoods.

Cross-linked plastomers as a replacement for rubber

The present invention provides a polyolefin composition, said composition comprising a terpolymer comprising a cross-linkable polyolefin comprising hydrolysable silane groups and a polar comonomer, the polyolefin composition further comprising a cross-linking catalyst and a silicon containing compound. The polar comonomer Is present in an amount of 5-35 wt %.

Rubber replacement material comprising terpolymers

The present invention relates to silane crosslinking catalyst comprising: &#x2014;75 to 85 wt.-% of an olefin acrylate interpolymer and&#x2014;15 to 25 wt.-% of a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) having a number average molecular weight Mn of 1500 to 4000 g/mol; and&#x2014;optionally up to 5 wt.-% wax, wherein the silane crosslinking catalyst is free of tin, carboxylic acid(s) and sulphonic acid(s), all weight percentages with respect to the total weight of the silane crosslinking catalyst.
