An airbag module with an airbag and a tubular gas generator fastened to a module housing is provided. Said tubular gas generator having gas outlet openings along the periphery thereof and can be fastened to the module housing by means of only a clamping ring that is movable over the tubular gas generator and over a section of the module housing. The clamping ring has in axial direction elongated sections being separated from each other and continuing axial in the opposite direction. The module housing has in its bottom an opening for inserting the tubular gas generator, wherein on the module housing below this opening a support for the tubular gas generator is provided. The clamping ring is designed such that said clamping ring reaches below the support after positioning the tubular gas generator with the elongated section by axial moving in direction of the center of the tubular gas generator.

An gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system is provided. The gas bag module comprising an inflatable gas bag, an envelope inside of which the gas bag is vacuum packed and which comprises a first and a second material. The first material has a lower gas permeability than the second material and the second material has a higher tear strength than the first material.

An airbag packet includes an airbag that is vacuum packed in a film. The airbag is folded into a deep drawn lower film that is sealed at sealing points to an upper film. The sealing points are sealed at various strengths so that when the airbag is deployed the upper film remains connected to the lower film at one or more sealing points.

A method for producing an airbag package for an airbag module, which airbag package at least comprises an airbag and a protection covering surrounding the airbag is provided. The method using a first tool that comprises a recess for receiving the airbag package. The method comprising the steps of: covering the recess with an evenly outspread first protection covering part of the protection covering, folding the airbag, and inserting the folded airbag into the recess under interposition of the first protection covering part.

Method for producing an airbag package for an airbag module

An airbag module including a gas generator with at least one laterally projecting fastening portion; a generator support; an airbag with an inflation opening; a cover cap; and latching elements for connecting the generator support to the cover cap. The airbag has a plate proximate to the inflation opening, the plate including an opening for the gas generator. Latching elements are provided to hold the plate and the airbag connected thereto, and to hold the fastening portion of the gas generator situated between the generator support and the plate. The plate, at least in the region of these latching elements, is larger than the external dimensioning of the folded airbag in the region of the inflation opening.
