An apparatus in a mobile communication network combines information from monitoring IP flows carrying latency sensitive content passing the apparatus and information about the application behavior and target Quality of Experience (QoE) or target connectivity characteristics such as Quality of Service (QoS) from the application to provide ongoing predictions of QoE/QoS. In some cases, the apparatus exploits a probe on a device to generate traffic for learning flow characteristics not obtained from monitoring application IP flows in the network. Embodiments disclosed herein can be used to predict quality metrics for many applications where jitter/latency is a factor affecting perceived quality, such as QoE for a human consumer or QoS for machine type communications. The embodiments are applicable to the analysis of traffic carrying conversational speech.

Estimating quality metric for latency sensitive traffic flows in communication networks

The method comprises sampling transport data received on the transport link to determine properties of the transport link. The method comprises detecting the disturbance of the transport link based on the determined properties of the transport link. The method comprises, responsive to the detecting the disturbance, determining, based on the sampled received transport data, the cause of the disturbance. A method for over-the-top (OTT) management in a communication network is presented. The method is performed in an application client. The method comprises sending a request for activation of a policy for an application network interaction protocol (ANIP) service to a packet data network gateway (PGW) wherein the request indicates an address to a local ANIP server; receiving a set of rules related to the requested activation of the policy from the PGW, wherein the set of rules are defined for a packet data network (PDN) session applicable for the ANIP service; and communicating over the communication network based on the received set of rules. Methods, application clients, PGWs, ANIP servers, computer programs, and a computer program for OTT management in a communication network are also presented.

There is provided mechanisms for classifying microwave link data of a microwave system comprises a point-to-point wireless microwave link. A method is performed by a controller entity. The method comprises obtaining, in time windows, microwave link data in terms of signal quality measurement values and received power values for the point-to-point wireless microwave link. The method comprises classifying per time window, the microwave link data per time window to operating conditions in a set of operating conditions by, from the signal quality measurement values and received power values per time window, estimating probability values for each of the operating conditions according to a mapping, as learned through training, between pieces of microwave link data and operating conditions.

Methods and arrangements for binding a device application to a web service

When the client device () sends a download request () in a downloading session, the server () identifies () at least one content resource deemed to be potentially needed later in the downloading session. The server () then sends a cache map to the client device () in a response to the download request. The cache map comprises a pre-fetch indication indicating that the identified at least one content resource should be pre-fetched by the client device () from a cache () containing the identified at least one content resource. Thereby, the client device is able to pre-fetch () the content resources before the performance of communication may become reduced so that communication with the cache () is difficult or even impossible, e.g. due to deteriorated radio conditions or congestion in the communication network.

Method and content management module for managing content in a content distribution network

Devices, server nodes and associated methods related to communication services applying webRTC are disclosed. The method performed by a device includes creating an RTCPeerConnection object and instructing the RTCPeerConnection object to create a RTCSessionDescription, SDesc_, for a session containing audio and video components. The method further includes determining which capabilities that are supported by the device based on information in the SDesc_, and further indicating information related to the determined capabilities to a first user on a user interface. A first user, when using the service, is enabled to select a type of user communication, based on the indicated information, that can be provided by the device.

Use of webRTC apis for improving communication services

The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement in a communication node for creating a group of contacts to receive a message from a user of a user device. The method includes receiving a tag indicating conditions for the message, and obtaining characteristics of primary contacts of the user. Primary contacts are selected for receiving the message by matching the conditions of the tag with the characteristics of the primary contacts, and primary contacts are selected which have characteristics that match the conditions of the tag. A group including the selected primary contacts is initiated.

Method and an apparatus in a communication node for identifying receivers of a message

A method is proposed for determining the round-trip delay for sending multimedia data, such as voice or video data, between a first network node and a second network node over a communications network, where data is encapsulated in data units comprising at least one frame of encoded data. The method includes the steps of: said first network node sending a request for reconfiguration of the data unit structure to the second node; the first node detecting a reconfiguration response from the second node, where the reconfiguration response comprises at least one data unit of data having a structure that corresponds to the request for reconfiguration. The first node then measures the time elapsed between sending the reconfiguration request and detecting the reconfiguration response and determines a value for roundtrip delay using said measured time. In accordance with a first embodiment, the request for reconfiguration is a request to change the encoding mode of the multimedia data. A node adapted to measure this round-trip delay is also proposed.
