A molded plastic container and closure combination in which the closure is provided with a manually removable tear band between upper and lower locking structures. Once the tear band has been removed, it is possible to hinge the closure open while allowing it to remain attached to the container. Various features adding hoop strength and stacking strength are provided. A bail and bottom handle facilitate pouring from the container.

A closure for covering an opening of a container. The closure includes an inverted U-shaped peripheral channel for receiving the rim of a container therein. A tear strip is formed with the skirt of the closure via a tear line that circumscribes the skirt. A breakaway pull tab having an inner surface with U-shaped ribs, the combination of the surface and ribs being such as to provide a concavity which assists in gripping the tab to pull the strip away. Linear vertical ribs may be provided on the outer surface to provide further assistance in the gripping function. The skirt includes a recessed area underlying the pull tab for providing access to the pull tab. An alternative embodiment uses a zig-zag structure of strengthening ribs in the skirt to reduce the amount of material necessary to provide the undercut. This reduces the probability of warpage in the closure structure.

Closure with tear strip

An assist airblower unit for a heating and ventilating system of a motor vehicle. The airblower includes a single motor and two centrifugal fan wheels encased within a shell. The motor drives both centrifugal fan wheels via a shaft. The centrifugal fan wheels have angled blades that draws in air from a lateral air inlet located on the shell. The air is then forced out of the outlet openings into the automobiles interior to either heat or cool the vehicle. The air source either outputs at the front of the HVAC unit or recirculation air, i.e., cabin air.

An air distribution apparatus for a vehicle includes a partition disposed within a housing which separates a first longitudinal airstream from a blower and a cooling element into first and second airstreams, each separately directed through a heater element to form first and second recombined airstreams. The partition redirects the first and second recombined airstreams to a second direction angularly disposed from the first direction of air flow to enable the first and second output airstreams to be separately transmitted to first and second separate zones within the vehicle. Independently movable blend valves are interposed in the first and second airstreams to provide independent selection of temperature of the first and second output airstreams.

Dual zone vehicle air distribution apparatus

A molded plastic container having an open top and bail receivers molded integrally into the side wall at opposite positions. The receivers are shaped and sized to act as lifting handles as well as to receive the ends of a wire bail. Flexible finger guards are molded into the interior volumes of the receivers to prevent contact between the fingers and the bail wire.

A system for supplying air to first and second regions of a vehicle passenger compartment, has a first fan, a heater device, and first and second air conduits. The heater device has a first air inlet and outlet for air from the first fan and a second air inlet and outlet for recirculating air within the passenger compartment. The first and second outlets of the heater device supply air through the first and second air conduits to the first and second regions of the said vehicle. The second air conduit is connected to said second air outlet of said heater device via a second fan operable in use to selectively supply air through the second conduit to the second region of the vehicle.

Climate control for vehicle

In an apparatus for distributing air flowing along a first path, the first path splits into second and third paths, so that both the second and third paths diverge from the first path. The second and third paths are at an angle of less than 180&deg; to one another. A first door, is across the second path; and a second door, is across the third path. A common operating device rotates both doors, such that air is able to flow from the first path into the second and third paths, the flow being dependent on the position of rotation of the doors.

Blend door actuation for dual zone

A device for cutting and folding back a portion of a page along a peripheral edge to form a tab that extends beyond the peripheral edge. The device includes a first and second planar member and a folded over cutting blade positioned to extend laterally over the second member and partially over the first member. The folded over cutting blade forms two cutting edges and having an opening therebetween for receiving a portion of the page. In another aspect, the device includes a housing having an upper and lower structure forming a narrow cavity along one side for disposition of a page of a book, magazine or other publication. An interior edge of the cavity defines an alignment edge for the page. An actuator communicates with a cutting blade within the housing to cut a portion of the page within the cavity and fold the cut portion along a seam line so that the cut portion extends beyond the periphery of the page.

Motor vehicle heating or air conditioning unit

A radial flow fan wheel has a longitudinal axis and consists of an annular member and a plurality of first and second blade members. The first and second blade members depend from the annular member substantially parallel to the axis of the first blade members being disposed on a first pitch circle and the second blade member being disposed on a second pitch circle which has a radius less than a radius of the first pitch circle.

A mixing device for mixing two air flows has plural first flexible curtains disposed between first edge regions of alternate pairs of air guides, and a plurality of second flexible curtains disposed between second edge regions of alternate pairs of air guides. Moveable air guides in each pair may be moved to control the flow of air.

An air flow mixer structure for a vehicle air conditioning system has a first conduit for a first air flow, a second conduit for a second air flow, an opening between said first and second conduits for merging said first and second air flows in a merging region and a common air channel for said merged air flows, the mixer structure having an air inlet region and an air outlet region opening into said merging region, the structure comprising plural air passages disposed between said inlet region and said outlet region for dividing an air flow at said inlet region into plural air flows at plural said openings into said merging region.
