An arrangement for coupling two components of an internal combustion engine that are arranged movable relative to each other is provided, in particular, for switching multi-stage valve drives, with at least one coupling element () arranged to be movable in one of the components for coupling with the other component to be coupled. Here, at the contact point between the coupling element () and the component to be coupled, a force acting on the coupling element () during coupling is introduced at an angle relative to the coupling direction () of the coupling element ().

A switchable finger lever for a valve drive of an internal combustion engine having an interior lever encompassed by arms of an exterior lever, with a joint axle extending through the levers so they are relatively pivotal. A stub projects from the axle at each exterior side, with the respective stub being encompassed by a coil section of a pivot pin spring, having one leg acting upon the exterior lever and another leg acting upon the interior lever to pre-load the levers relative to each other, with the coil section encompassing a bush encasing an exterior casing of the stub. The bush encompasses the stub with a clearance fit and, for fixation of the axle, an annular groove with a safety ring is located inside the bush bore, and engages a radially inwardly located groove in the exterior casing of the stub allowing the axle to be disassembled without destruction.

Switchable finger lever

A valve drive system () having a support element () and a switchable cam follower () that is linked on this support element in an articulated way is provided. The cam follower () is made from an outer lever () between whose arms () runs an inner lever (), wherein at least the outer lever () is provided on its top side () with a contact surface () for a lifting cam, n the inner lever () has, on a bottom side () on a first end (), a contact () for a gas-exchange valve and at least on the other end () two side walls () that are spaced apart and in which extend opposing boreholes (). The side walls () are bridged by a tubular axle piece () that sits in the boreholes () and in whose opening () run two diametrically opposed coupling pistons (). The axle piece () sits between the side walls () in a cross borehole () of a head () of the support element (), and in the region of the first end (), the levers () sit on a common swivel pin () and the arms () of the outer lever () have, on the other end (), a catch surface () for the coupling pistons () that can be brought out from its opening () in engagement with the catch surface () section-wise in the coupled state, such that a large valve stroke is realized, and for decoupling, a comparatively smaller valve stroke is presented. The outer lever () is forced back by a restoring spring () from its pivot mode.

Valve drive system

The invention relates to a switchable cam follower of a valve train of an internal combustion engine, comprising an outer follower and an inner follower interposed between the lateral walls thereof. A roller extends between arms of the inner follower, float-mounted on a pin, as the counter face for an eccentric disk. The followers are disposed on one end on a common axis. On the distal end, they have elongate seats that, at the base of the cam, are mutually aligned. A coupling element is located in the seat of the outer follower and can be displaced step by step into the seat (here follower surface) of the inner follower. The pin on the inner follower slightly projects over the arms of the inner follower with one projection each. When coupled, upper sides of the projections rest against lower sides of stop surfaces that are mounted on the inner surfaces of the lateral walls of the outer follower.

A switchable drag lever () of a valve timing mechanism of an internal combustion engine is proposed, having an outer lever () and an inner lever () which is arranged between the said outer lever (). The drag lever () has a rest () for a gas exchange valve on an underside () at one end (), and a pivoting bearing () for a supporting element on an underside () at the other end (). The levers () extend at one end () on a common pin (). Receptacles () for coupling means are provided which extend longitudinally at the end () facing away from the pin () and are aligned with respect to one another in the cam base circle. The side walls () of the outer lever () have contact faces () for lifting cams on their upper sides (). A segment-like collar () protrudes inwards from each upper side (), which segment-like collar () forms a structural unit with the respective contact face (), the corresponding underside () of the collar () bearing against a complementary stop face () of an upper side () of the adjacent arm () of the inner lever () in the coupling case. Alignment of the receptacles () is therefore provided in a simple way for the coupling case.
