An anesthesia system includes a volume reflector, a breathing circuit, a processing unit, and a display operatively connected to the processing unit. The processing unit is configured to provide a status indicator on the display for gas in the volume reflector, the status indicator including a graphical representation of an extent of a driving gas of the volume reflector and/or a patient gas in the volume reflector, and/or a flow of gas and a direction of the flow in the volume reflector, and/or a waste gas flow out of the volume reflector relative a fresh gas flow in the system, and/or a re-breathing fraction (RBF), and/or a balance between the fresh gas flow and patient uptake and/or leakage of gas from the breathing circuit.

Volume reflector status indicator for anesthesia system

A flexible patient cassette that can be optimized for different types of breathing circuits, different drive circuits and different patient categories has a first inlet arranged to be connected to a drive circuit, and at least a second inlet arranged to be connected to a patient connector, the first and second inlets being pneumatically connected with each other through a gas conducting passage constituting a patient circuit having a certain volume. The patient cassette has a volume-varying arrangement for varying the patient circuit volume to allow that volume to be varied in dependence of at least one of the type of breathing circuit in which the patient cassette is used, the type of drive circuit to which the patient cassette is connected, and the tidal volume of a patient connected to the patient connector.

The patient cassette has a volume-varying arrangement for varying the patient circuit volume to allow that volume to be varied in dependence of at least one of the type of breathing circuit in which the patient cassette is used; the type of drive circuit to which the patient cassette is connected; the tidal volume of a patient connected to the patient connector.

In an apparatus for collection of waste anesthetic gases, and a method of using such an apparatus, the apparatus has a gas collection chamber with an input port to be connected to an exhaust of an anesthesia delivery system for receiving a first gas flow therefrom that contains a waste anesthetic gas component. An output port from the gas collection chamber is connected to a vacuum system for evacuation of an evacuation gas flow from the gas collection chamber. A bidirectional port leads to and from the gas collection chamber, which has an adsorbing unit connecting the gas collection chamber with an ambient environment surrounding the gas collection chamber. The apparatus provides for safe prevention of discharge of exhaled anesthetic gases into an ambient atmosphere surrounding the apparatus.

Method and apparatus for collection of waste anesthetic gases

To connect and disconnect a filter in a gas flow system, a filter unit has a filter housing wherein an adsorption/absorption filter is movably arranged. The filter housing has two tube connectors for connecting the filter unit in a gas conducting passage. The filter unit also has a shifting element which is movable from a first to at least a second position. The first position allows the filter to substantially fill the gas conducting passage in a way that forces the gas in the gas flow system to pass through the filter, whereas the second position substantially removes the filter from the gas conducting passage, allowing the gas to pass through the filter unit without passing the filter.

Filter arrangement

An anaesthesia apparatus has a control unit that controls a gas flow of a flushing gas through at least part of the anaesthesia apparatus so as to flush anaesthetic agent from the apparatus when the apparatus is not connected to a patient. In this way the remaining anaesthetic agent can be removed from the anaesthesia apparatus after use before connecting another patient. Pre-use check of the apparatus can be performed automatically.
