Bandage for an ankle joint comprising an elongated tape, wherein the elongated tape runs around a heel, across a lateral side of the ankle joint, across an instep in a medial plantar direction and across a sole of a foot in a lateral plantar direction. First and a second transverse edges of the elongated tape are fastened to the tape itself. A first bridle and a second bridle is attached to the elongated tape. The first bridle extends from a lateral side on a forefoot and the second bridle extends from a lateral side on the ankle joint. The second bridle is circularly closed around the ankle joint and extends to the lateral side of the ankle joint. The first bridle is guided on the forefoot across the instep to the ankle joint and is circularly closed around the ankle joint and over the second bridle. Orthopedic supports comprising foam material, such as neoprene, and textile spacers wherein the textile spacer is interspaced between pieces of foam material, and the textile spacer and foam material are secured together. The orthopedic supports can be configured to conform to any of body part such as knee, wrist or ankle supports. The orthopedic supports can be used to provide therapeutic support and compression to the joint of a user.

Anatomically shaped medical bandages

A method for fastening pads to medical bandages, stockings and the like, wherein the pad is welded by thermal action or by cementing between two support materials of film, fabric, knit material or fleece, of which at least one consists of a thermoplastic material, is shaped substantially to its contour, and is fastened to the bandage by thermal action by means of the thermoplastic material which faces the side of the bandage. Preferably, the pad welded between the two support materials is punched out, cut out or the like according to its contour with an overhanging margin and fastened by means of the latter to the bandage.
