A braking system including four hydraulically actuatable wheel brakes. A normally closed outlet valve is assigned to each wheel brake and a normally open inlet valve is assigned to each wheel brake. Two pressure supply devices are provided for active pressure build-up in the wheel brakes. A first and a second brake circuit are hydraulically configured with two wheel brakes respectively, wherein in each brake circuit a respective pressure supply device is hydraulically connected to two wheel brakes. A first and a second control and regulating unit are provided, wherein the first control and regulating unit electrically controls the pressure supply device of the first brake circuit, and wherein the second control and regulating unit hydraulically controls the pressure supply device of the second brake circuit, and the two control and regulating units are connected together via a data interface.

A brake system for motor vehicles controllable by a driver or independently of the driver, comprises first and second brake actuation sensors. First and second electrically controllable pressure sources, can actuate the wheel brakes. A first electronic control unit controls the first pressure source, and is connected to the first brake actuation sensor. A second electronic control unit controls the second pressure source and is connected to the second brake actuation sensor. A hydraulic control device comprises a first solenoid valve between the wheel brakes and the first pressure source and a second solenoid valve between the wheel brakes and the second pressure source. An actuating unit for a brake system, comprises a pedal connection element that charges a booster piston with an actuating force. An elastically deformable reaction disk, absorbs the actuating and boosting forces of the booster and releases the sum of said forces to a working piston. An electrically controllable pressure supply device outputs pressure which acts upon the booster piston. The actuating unit further comprises an extension arm for detecting the differential path between the pedal connection element and the booster piston and a sensor device that detects the differential path. An electronic control unit receives the signals from the sensor device and uses said signals for controlling the pressure supply device. Differential path information is transported by the extension arm to a location near the sensor device that is radially and axially offset by the reaction disk.

Actuating unit for a hydraulic brake system

The invention relates to a brake system for motor vehicle. A piston-cylinder arrangement can be actuated by means of a brake pedal, a controllable pressure source and brake pressure modulation valves. In order to provide a piston-cylinder arrangement which is easy to implement and axially short, the invention proposes that the piston of the piston-cylinder arrangement is directly guided in a housing that accommodates further components of the brake system according to the invention.
