A collimator for a SPECT system, the collimator being adapted for absorbing and collimating gamma rays emitted by a radiation source within a field of view the collimator, said collimator having an alignment direction for directing along a longitudinal axis of a measuring cavity of the SPECT system and said collimator comprising at least one collimator body of radiation absorbing material, the collimator body comprising a plurality of apertures being formed in the collimator body, the plurality of apertures being arranged in a plurality of groups separated from each other in said alignment direction. The apertures of each group are oriented such as to define at least one projection view along a corresponding at least one projection direction. The plurality of said projection directions corresponding to each and every of said plurality of groups cover an angular range sufficiently large for sufficient image information for artifact-free reconstruction.

Stationary SPECT imaging

A collimating system () for collimating radiation received under different angles for performing tomography is described. The collimating system () comprises a static collimator () comprising a plurality of collimating apertures (), shutters () for separately and temporarily shutting at least two of said collimating apertures (), wherein the shutters () having a shutting element () for blocking said at least two collimating apertures (), and at least one collimating element () distinct from the shutting element () for collimating radiation passing through non-shut collimating apertures () in a direction so as to control overlap between radiation stemming from different non-shut collimating apertures (). The invention also relates to an imaging system comprising such a collimating system, a method for collimating and a corresponding controller and software related products.

Method and system for collimating

A collimator () for collimating radiation includes collimator material () and at least one collimator hole () defined by the surrounding collimator material (). The collimator hole () defines an aperture () and a bottom surface () through which radiation can leave the collimator (). The volume of the collimator hole between the aperture () and the entrance opening and/or exit opening is shaped such that there is at least one cross-section of the hole between the aperture () and the entrance opening and/or exit opening, the cross-section being taken parallel with the aperture, such that the shape of the cross-section of the hole cannot be obtained through an affine transform of the shape of the aperture.

Methods and systems for collimating

A method for correcting a relaxation map of an object scanned with a magnetic resonance imaging modality the object having a plurality of structure and/or tissue types. The method includes deriving a first relaxation map of a scanned object from at least two three-dimensional scans of the object acquired using a sequence of ultrashort echo time pulses adapted for distinguishing between the various types of a plurality of structure and/or tissue types of the object. Information is obtained on the type of structure and/or tissue type present in voxels in the first relaxation map and binarizing the obtained information. A corrected relaxation map is generated by combining the binarized information with the first relaxation map.
