A circulator/isolator housing is provided that includes body and a plurality of slots within the body configured to receive therethrough inserts having magnetic permeability. The housing further includes a plurality of receiving portions within the body corresponding to the plurality of slots and configured to maintain a position of the inserts.

A ferrite circulator having integrated alignment members and a method for aligning a ferrite element within a ferrite circulator are provided. The ferrite circulator includes a ferrite circulator housing having a body for receiving at least one ferrite element therein. The ferrite circulator housing further includes a plurality of alignment members positioned and configured to maintain the alignment of the at least one ferrite element in an alignment region defined by the plurality of alignment members.

An alignment frame for a passive radio frequency ferrite isolator or circulator aligns ferrite discs with the circuit and the housing in which these components are encased. The fragile leads of the circuit are supported by the alignment frame, thereby creating a more durable and robust package design for handling and customer product interfacing. No adhesive is used, thereby reducing manufacturing time and increasing reliability of the device.

A structure for a passive microwave device. The structure includes a housing having circumferential side portions and selectively located openings in the side portions. In addition, electrical conductors for the passive device extend from the openings. The structure further includes substantially rigid supports which provide structural support for the conductors. The conductors are positioned above the supports and are electrically connected to contacts which are secured in apertures formed in the supports. A dielectric material is disposed on a perimeter of each of the contacts which serves to isolate each of the contacts from the support when the contact is positioned within the aperture.

A fiber optic attenuator having a predetermined, fixed attenuation value and low back reflection properties across a broad wavelength spectrum is disclosed. Attenuation is achieved by providing an optical fiber pathway having an attenuation region which causes a predetermined signal loss. The medium defining the pathway is of a substantially constant index of refraction through the device to minimize or eliminate interference caused by Fresnel reflections. An index matching material surrounds the area of attenuation to eliminate or minimize modal or cladding noise.
