A system includes a formatter configured to adapt media content that is stored in memory to a media delivery format that is compatible with a media delivery medium corresponding to transmission medium for delivery of the media content. A delivery manager is configured to process a request for the media content and deliver the media content in the media deliver format via the media delivery medium based on one of a delivery time constraint and a quality constraint. A weighing engine is configured to prioritize the delivery time constraint over the quality constraint for the media content or the quality constraint over the delivery time constraint for the media content based on a type of media content to deliver a timely version of the media content timely via the media delivery medium.

Adaptive media delivery

A system includes a delivery manager to process a request for media content that is stored in memory, the delivery manager being programmed to determine a media delivery mechanism for the media content based on constraints of at least one delivery parameter. The system includes a formatter programmed to adapt the media content to a media delivery format that is compatible with the media delivery mechanism and the constraints of the delivery parameter. The delivery manager can be programmed to adaptively initiate delivery of the media content in the media delivery format and via the delivery mechanism according to the constraints of the delivery parameter.

A video multiviewer system may include a plurality of video scalers operating in parallel for generating initially scaled video streams by performing video scaling in at least one dimension on a plurality of video input streams. The video multiviewer system may also include at least one video cross-point switcher coupled downstream from the video scalers, and a processing unit coupled downstream from the video cross-point switcher for generating additionally scaled video streams by performing additional video scaling on the initially scaled video streams. A routing switcher performs various soft signaling processing within the router using one or more internal soft media processors (central processing units) to enable flexible solutions. The routing switcher includes a plurality of inputs and outputs operably connected by a cross-point matrix where the inputs are dynamically coupled to one or more of the outputs. The routing switcher also includes a soft media processor connected to the cross-point matrix as well as being dynamically coupled between some inputs and outputs. The soft media processor receives a signal from an input via the cross-point matrix and performs one of at least two signaling processing functions resident on the soft media processor and outputs a processed signal from one or more of the routing switcher's outputs.
