An authorized electrical plug has a plug surface with first and second plug edges and left and right side plug edges. The plug surface has left and right prongs projecting outwardly from the plug surface. A recess has a depth formed in the plug surface. An authorized electrical receptacle has a receptacle surface with first and second receptacle edges, left and right side receptacle edges, and left and right slots extending inwardly. A projection has a height formed in the receptacle surface. Left and right slots receive the left and right prongs respectively with the recess receiving the projection when an authorized electrical receptacle receives an authorized electrical plug.

The approach for managing the topology in a MANET includes, at the network layer of a wireless mobile node, operating a link state or other routing protocol to discover routes from the at least one wireless node to other wireless nodes within the MANET. The routing protocol includes the use of a global topology database storing global network topology information. The method also includes, at the network layer, providing the global network topology information from the global topology database of the routing protocol to the MAC sublayer. Also, at the data link layer, the MAC sublayer is controlled to perform neighbor connection management based upon the global network topology information from the global topology database. The approach may provide enhanced QoS, latency and resistance to link and node failures within MANETs.

Network layer topology management for mobile ad-hoc networks and associated methods

A MANET may include a plurality of MANET nodes each comprising a wireless transceiver and a controller cooperating therewith for establishing a wireless communication link with an adjacent MANET node based upon a time division multiple access (TDMA) implementation. The TDMA implementation may use a repeating scheduling of a plurality of temporally spaced-apart time slot units within a control epoch to thereby reduce a latency of communication.

Mobile ad-hoc network providing communication latency reduction features and related methods

A MANET may include a plurality of MANET nodes each including a wireless transceiver, a position determining device, and a controller cooperating with the wireless transceiver and position determining device for establishing a wireless communication link with an adjacent MANET node based upon a time division multiple access (TDMA) implementation. The TDMA implementation may use time slots without using a range dependent guard time therein. The controller may further determine a range to the adjacent MANET node, and schedule time slots to offset a link delay in a received signal from the adjacent MANET node based upon the determined range.

Method and apparatus for scheduling time division multiple access (TDMA) communications among a plurality of peer nodes arranged to form a wireless ad hoc mobile network. The peer nodes communicate with each other using directional antennas and a TDMA process. The method includes a scheduling process for scheduling at least one transmit time slot during which a first one of the plurality of peer nodes transmits wireless data to a second one of the plurality of peer nodes.

Long range scheduling for directional antenna manet networks

An adaptive link assignment scheme for dynamically changing communication node topologies such as satellite networks, fleets of ships or aircraft, etc. Periodically each node in the network transmits topology information to all the nodes in the network. Then each node determines the degree of connectivity of the network. It is preferred that the network be at least triconnected, and if the network is less than that each node determines what connections it can make to improve the network connectivity. If more than one alternative is available, a choice is made based on line of sight endurance and then on traffic delay. The identification of the selected connection is then broadcast to all the nodes in the network. Each node thus receives the proposed changes from all the network nodes, and each node then resolves conflicts between the broadcast selections and determines what change it should make. Finally, the changes are implemented. The scheme emphasizes network connectivity to bring the network to a triconnected state and then emphasizes line of sight endurance and reduction of traffic delay.

Adaptive link assignment for a dynamic communication network

A mechanism for establishing at least one transmission route between a source node and a destination node in a multinode communications network comprises monitoring transmission characteristics of each of the transmission paths among the respective nodes of the network so as to derive a plurality of path metrics representative of the ability of the respective transmission paths of the network to transmit communication signals. Then, feasible transmission routes to be used for the transmission of communication signals from the source node to the destination node are selected as those routes which extend from the source node to the destination node and each of which is comprised of one or more transmission paths among the nodes of the network and the sum of path metrics of transmission paths from neighboring nodes to the destination node is less than the path metric of a transmission path the end nodes of which correspond to the source and destination nodes. Communication signals are then transmitted from the source node to the destination node over the selected feasible transmission routes.
