A dispenser for dispensing sheet material, particularly metallic foil, positions each successively leading end region of the foil, after a preceding length of the foil has been severed, to stand freely in a generally upright condition away from a severing means which is preferably provided without sharp serrated cutting teeth to protect a user from injury during use of the dispenser, and to provide the user with ready access to each upstanding leading end region of the foil.

Comestible cones with frozen edibles deposited thereon are safely and securely held and transported in a carrying bag. The carrying bag contains a handle portion which is positioned above the center of gravity of the cone-filled carrying bag and insures that said filled carrying bag is in stable equilibrium. The bag comprises two substantially planar sheets, one of which is juxtaposed behind and in registration with the other. Said two sheets are joined together along their bottoms, along a portion of their sides, and intermediate their sides along a plurality of spaced zones which taper diagonally downwardly toward one another to thus define a plurality of quasi-conical pockets. The non-joined portions of the sides of said sheets define upper panel segments. The cones are receivable in the pockets of the bag and are securely and safely held therein during transport of said cones from place to place. At least the inner surface of the bag is composed of a material having a slippery surface so the frozen edible will not stick to same.

A plasterboard trimming tool includes a main support element that consists of two parallel arms interconnected by a web and having lateral guiding surfaces which face one another and confine the marginal portion of the plasterboard between themselves in operation. A transverse guiding surface is provided on the web itself and/or an auxiliary support element which is selectively mountable on the web. A pair of cutting blades is mounted in respective holders at the same distance from the transverse guiding surface, the cutting blades having respective cutting edges which partially penetrate into the plasterboard to form continuous straight scoring cuts therein across the plasterboard from one another. The position of the auxiliary support element on the web can be reversed. The auxiliary support element has elongated sections of different thicknesses extending along the web, so that the distance of the scoring cuts from the edge face can be changed by reversing the position of the auxiliary support element. The auxiliary support element has a wedge-shaped leveling zone which levels the edge face of the plasterboard after the marginal portion of the same has been broken away along the scoring cuts. The auxiliary support element is of a flexible material and has an abutment section which is rigid with one of the elongated sections and prevents removal of the auxiliary support element from the web unless the one elongated section is deflected.

A cutting tool for cutting corrugated shipping cartons open includes a cutting blade and a holding arrangement for the cutting blade. The holding arrangement includes a confining member and a support member on which the cutting blade is held in its active position by being accommodated in a recess and having a stationary finger holding the blade and which is mounted on the confining member for movement between first and second positions displaced 90.degree. relative to each other. A cover for the cutting blade is mounted on the confining member for pivoting between its closed and open positions. The holding arrangement includes a contact surface which engages the edge region of the respective carton at the side wall thereof, and a distancing surface which engages the top wall of the carton during the cutting operation with the cover in its open position and with the support member in its first position to determine the distance of the cutting blade from the top wall. In its closed position, the cover either prevents access to the blade when the support member is in its first position, or maintains the support member in its second position in which the contact surface and an additional contact surface provided on the cover in alignment with the contact surface engage the respective carton at any region during the cutting operation.

A cutting tool for cutting open corrugated shipping cartons includes a cutting blade and a holding arrangement for the cutting blade. The holding arrangement includes a holding member on which the cutting blade is held in its cutting position by being accommodated in a recess and having a stationary pin extend into a slot thereof. The holding arrangement includes a contact surface which engages the edge region of the respective carton at the side wall thereof, and a distancing surface which engages the top wall of the carton during the cutting operation to determine the distance of the cutting blade from the top wall, while the contact surface determines the degree of penetration of the cutting edge of the cutting blade into the interior of the shipping carton. These surfaces are so positioned as to avoid any damage to the contents of the shipping carton. A cover for the cutting blade is hingedly mounted on the holding arrangement by a reduced-thickness hinge portion integral with the holding member and the cover. A confining member of a generally C-shaped configuration embraces the holding member and has a slot accommodating a part of the cutting blade and the hinge. The confining member confines the cutting blade between itself and the holding member and is guided on the latter for movement in the longitudinal direction of the slot.

A dispenser for serving and severing web from a roll includes a container for supporting the roll and a slotted cutting shelf over which web from the roll is draped. A swing-down cover hinged to the container carries a knife blade aligned with the shelf slot and a retractable sheath which envelops the blade until the dispenser is operated to sever the web. The sheath is an elongated flexible resilient member which is downwardly bowed so that, when the cover is swung toward its closed position, the sheath engages the web on the shelf at the midportion of the web first and then gradually engages web portions outboard from that midportion in a progressive fashion by a rolling clamping action until the entire length of the sheath is flexed flat against the web on the shelf thereby laterally tensioning the web as the blade edge projects through the web into the shelf slot.

A container lid convertible into a spoon constitutes a one piece water-impermeable sheet of a thermoplastic resin including a flat peripheral ring having a circular outer circumference defining an inner area of three-dimensional configuration including a diametral trough the front end of which flares outwardly and terminates in the plane of the ring. Wings extend laterally outwardly from the side edges of the trough. The front ends of the wings are located at the front end of said side edges. The side edges are weakened whereby as opposite points of the periphery of the lid are squeezed together the rear portions of the wings and of the trough collapse upon one another to form a spoon handle and the front portion of the trough is narrowed and deepened to form a spoon bowl.

A drink-through closure lid for hot potable open-top containers, in which at least the portion of the lid that is in contact with the inner surface of a user's upper lip during the imbibing of the hot potable is composed of heat insulating material or an insulating layer to prevent harm or discomfort to the drinker.

A closure lid for capping the open top of a container. The container is of a type adapted to receive a potable liquid, usually one which is dispensed within a relatively close distance of the point at which it will be imbibed. Such containers with the closure lids emplaced thereon are used for 'carry-out' services, as from a luncheonette, or for 'carry-about' services, as from an on-the-premises beverage source such as a coffee brewer, a milk container, a carbonated or non-carbonated liquid vessel or a supply of hot water for tea or chocolate. It is customary to cap such containers with closure lids for carry-out purposes and to remove the lids when the potable is to be consumed; indeed it is quite usual to supply lids with the containers -- although not attached -- when the containers are sold to carry-out stores and to on-the-premises facilities where there are a large number of persons. The present invention provides a unique closure lid which when once in place is not intended to be removed but which is of such construction that a person can drink a potable through it from the capped container without experiencing any inconvenience and is such that it will minimize, and, indeed, almost eliminate, accidental spilling of the potable that heretofore has occurred when an uncapped container is jogged, shaken, or moved unevenly so as to cause spillage of its contents when a slosh wave overrides the rim of the container.
