The apparatus produces a diesel stream from a biorenewable feedstock by hydrotreating to remove heteroatoms and hydroisomerization to improve cold flow properties. Heavy diesel can be hydrocracked to jet fuel range material or further hydroisomerized to increase its value lower its freeze point while light diesel may be taken as a motor fuel.

Process for producing jet fuel from a biorenewable feed

A new catalyst hydroisomerizes C18 paraffins from fatty acids to a high degree to produce a composition with acceptable freeze point which retains 18 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule for jet fuel. We have discovered a fuel composition comprising at least 14 wt % hydrocarbon molecules having at least 18 carbon atoms and a freeze point not higher than −40° C. The composition also may exhibit a exhibiting a final boiling point of no more than 300° C. The hydroisomerization process can be once through or a portion of the product diesel stream may be selectively hydrocracked or recycled to hydroisomerization to obtain a fuel composition that meets jet fuel specifications.

Process for producing jet fuel from isomerizing a biorenewable feed

A process for producing light olefins comprising thermal cracking. Hydrocracked streams are thermally cracked in a steam cracker to produce light olefins. A pyrolysis gas stream is separated into a light stream and a heavy stream. A light stream is separated into an aromatic naphtha stream and a non-aromatic naphtha stream. The aromatics can be saturated and thermally cracked. The integrated process may be employed to obtain olefin products of high value from a crude stream.

Integrated process for the conversion of crude to olefins

Hydrodeoxygenating a biorenewable feed that is concentrated in free fatty acids with 10-13 carbon atoms at a moderate hydrodeoxygenation ratio that is less than the ratio of hydrodeoxygenation utilized for traditional biorenewable feeds such as vegetable oil or even mineral feedstocks, normal paraffins in the range desired by the detergents industry can be produced. Either hydroisomerization or an iso-normal separation can be performed to provide green fuel streams. Two reactors are proposed, one for hydrodeoxygenation of the biorenewable feed that is concentrated in free fatty acids with 10-13 carbon atoms and the other for a traditional biorenewable feed or even a mineral feed operated at a higher deoxygenation ratio.

Process for producing renewable product streams

Processes for controlling the flowrate of and recovering energy from a gas stream in a processing unit are described. One process comprises directing a portion of the gas stream through one or more variable-resistance power-recovery turbines to control the flowrate of the gas stream and generate electric power therefrom; and controlling the pressure and temperature of the gas stream so that the gas exiting the power-recovery turbine remains in the gas phase.

The process further provides passing the pyrolysis effluent stream to a distillation column to obtain a Chydrocarbons rich stream which is also dimethylheptenes rich and then passing the Chydrocarbons rich stream to a reforming unit to provide a reformate stream. The process further provides passing the reformate stream to a transalkylation unit to provide a mixed-xylenes stream.

Process for converting plastic feed containing polypropylene to aromatics

A process for reducing pressure of a vapor stream used for reducing a temperature or pressure in a reactor. A pressure of a vapor stream is reduced with a turbine to provide a lower pressure vapor stream. The vapor stream rotates a turbine wheel within the turbine. The turbine wheel is configured to transmit rotational movement to an electrical generator. Thus, electricity is generated with the turbine. The lower pressure vapor stream is injected into a reactor and reduces a temperature in the reactor or reduces a partial pressure of a hydrocarbon vapor in the reactor.

The invention relates to a recovered electric power measuring system comprising at least one processor; at least one memory storing computer-executable instructions; and at least one receiver configured to receive data from a sensor on an electrical powerline connected to a generator of a power-recovery turbine, the power-recovery turbine located in a petroleum, petrochemical, or chemical process zone wherein a portion of a first process stream flows through the power-recovery turbine and generates recovered electric power as direct current, the power-recovery turbine electrically connected to a single DC to AC inverter and the output of the DC to AC inverter electrically connected to a first substation.

Recovered electric power measuring system and method for collecting data from a recovered electric power measuring system

A process for reducing pressure of a vapor stream wherein the vapor stream rotates a turbine wheel within the turbine to transmit rotational movement to an electrical generator and generate electricity. The resulting lower pressure vapor stream reduces a partial pressure of a hydrocarbon vapor or is injected into a reactor to reduce a temperature in the reactor. A recovered electric power measuring system comprises at least one processor; at least one memory storing computer-executable instructions; and at least one receiver configured to receive data from a sensor on an electrical powerline connected to a generator of a turbine, the turbine in fluid communication with a vapor stream wherein the turbine reduces the pressure of the vapor stream and the resulting lower pressure vapor stream is injected into a reactor to reduce a temperature in the reactor or to reduce a partial pressure of hydrocarbon vapor in the reactor.

System for power recovery from quench and dilution vapor streams

Processes for controlling at least one process condition of a chemical processing unit with a turbine. In the processes, a flow of a fluid is adjusted with a turbine in order to provide the fluid with a flow associated with at least one process condition of a chemical processing unit. The turbine wheel is rotated within the turbine, and the turbine wheel is configured to transmit rotational movement to an electrical generator. The resistance of the turbine is modulated and adjusts the flow of the fluid through the turbine. A response time of at least one steady state process condition to a new steady state process condition of at least 10% difference is at least one second to reach 50% of the difference between the at least one steady state process condition and the new steady state process condition after modulating the resistance of the turbine.

Processes for adjusting at least one process condition of a chemical processing unit with a turbine

A naphtha hydrotreating process involves the use of a sulfur guard bed (SGB) with a controlled bypass which allows for control of the sulfur in the feed to a downstream processing unit. The SGB is installed on the light ends stripper bottoms stream in a naphtha hydrotreating unit.

Processes for co-processing a naphtha stream with a light cycle oil stream are disclosed. The processes include hydrocracking the light cycle oil stream under hydrocracking conditions to provide a hydrocracked effluent stream. A naphtha stream is hydrotreated under hydrotreating conditions to provide a hydrotreated effluent stream. The hydrocracked effluent stream and the hydrotreated effluent stream may be passed to a stripping column to recover a stripping bottom stream. The stripping bottom stream may be passed to a main fractionation column to recover an intermediate naphtha stream.

Co-processing of light cycle oil and heavy naphtha

Methods, processes, systems, or apparatus are provided to remove contaminants such as metals and chlorine present in a pyrolysis stream to form reduced-contaminant liquid biomass. In certain embodiments, for example, a metal chelating agent is dissolved into a metal-containing pyrolysis stream condensate to form metal chelate complex, followed by filtering to obtain the reduced-contaminant liquid biomass.
