A polymetaphosphate composition and method for temporarily sealing a perforation in a wellbore to facilitate a treatment therein and a well tool which can include a flow path, and a flow blocking device which selectively prevents flow through the flow path. The well tool can include a polymetaphosphate composition. A method of constructing a downhole well tool can include forming a structure of a solid mass comprising a polymetaphosphate composition, and incorporating the structure into the well tool.

High strength dissolvable compositions for use in subterranean wells

Provided is a method of treating a subterranean formation comprising: preparing a well servicing fluid comprised of a base fluid, a temporary compacted material wherein the temporary compacted material is a compacted organic acid; placing the well servicing fluid into a subterranean formation; and allowing the temporary compacted material to gradually dissolve.

Methods and compositions for using temporary compacted materials as well servicing fluids in a subterranean formation

Diverting compositions for treating a subterranean zone substantially distanced from a wellbore, comprising: a carrier fluid; and a particulate, partially dehydrated or anhydrous borate source material that does not substantially swell when placed in contact with the carrier fluid. The carrier fluid is capable of carrying and placing the borate source material into a stimulation network substantially distanced from a wellbore, and wherein the borate source material is dissolvable through sufficient contact with an aqueous fluid. The carrier fluid is a water-miscible non-aqueous fluid selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, N,N- dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran, dichloromethane, 1,4-dioxane, dimethylsulfoxide, tetramethylenesulfone, acetonitrile, hexamethylphosphoramide, 1,3-methyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro- 2(1H)-pyrimidinone, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, and combinations thereof.

Far field diversion technique for treating subterranean formation

An aqueous-swellable and degradable diverting system and the use of the system in treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore. The diverting system includes a carrier fluid and a partially dehydrated or anhydrous borate source material that does not swell or does not swell substantially when placed in contact with the carrier fluid. The carrier fluid is capable of carrying and placing the borate source material into a stimulation network substantially distanced from a wellbore. Exposure of the diverting composition to a sufficient amount of aqueous fluid swells the borate source material, bridges a desired portion of the stimulation network, and then dissolves at least a portion of the diverting composition. The diverting techniques allow for treatment in a subterranean formation to be diverted to a previously untreated portion of the formation, in particular a portion of the formation that is significantly distanced from the wellbore.

A downhole tool or a component thereof may comprise a plasticized polymer composition that comprises a polymer and a water-soluble plasticizer, wherein the plasticized polymer composition has a first deflection test value. The tool may be exposed to an aqueous-based medium where the water-soluble plasticizer may leach out of the tool such that the plasticized polymer composition has a second deflection test value after exposure to the aqueous-based medium that is less than about 10% of the first deflection test value.

Polymer compositions for use in downhole tools and components thereof

A method for diverting fluids across a perforation tunnel in high-rate water pack operations may include providing a wellbore extending into a subterranean formation, wherein a perforation tunnel provides a fluid connection between the wellbore and the subterranean formation; providing a diverting particulate that comprises a degradable plasticized polymer coating on a particulate; placing the diverting particulate into the perforation tunnel, wherein the step of placing the diverting particulate forms a particulate pack within the subterranean formation and the perforation tunnel; allowing the degradable plasticized polymer coating to deform and fill the interstitial spaces within the particulate pack in the perforation tunnel such that the fluid conductivity between the wellbore and the subterranean formation is substantially blocked; and allowing the plasticized polymer coating to degrade over time thereby substantially restoring the fluid conductivity between the wellbore and the subterranean formation.

Self-diverting high-rate water packs

Disclosed herein are swellable and degradable sand plug systems used in wellbores and methods for using the systems in treating wellbores. The slurry composition includes a carrier fluid and a granular borate source material, where the borate source material is at least partially dehydrated or anhydrous. The carrier fluid may be non-aqueous fluid or, in some compositions, an aqueous fluid. The slurry composition is allowed to settle in a horizontal wellbore and at least partially fill at least a portion of the wellbore in a direction vertical to the wellbore, and is exposed to a sufficient amount of aqueous fluid to expand and substantially fill at least a portion of the wellbore, thereby plugging the wellbore. The slurry composition may be exposed to a sufficient amount of aqueous liquid to at least partially dissolve the expanded slurry composition, thereby at least partially removing the plug from the wellbore.

Swellable/degradable 'sand' plug system for horizontal wells

Methods that comprise selecting proppant for use in a fracturing fluid based on one or more factors, wherein the one or more factors comprise an interaction between the proppant and the fracturing fluid. Methods that comprise designing a treatment fluid that comprises a gelled base fluid and a particulate based on one or more factors, wherein the one or more factors comprise an interaction between the particulate and the gelled base fluid.

Methods of designing treatment fluids based on solid-fluid interactions

Methods are provided that include a method comprising providing a viscosified treatment fluid comprising a base fluid and a gelling agent that comprises a clarified xanthan; and placing the viscosified treatment fluid into at least a portion of a subterranean formation. In some embodiments, the method comprises placing the viscosified treatment fluid into at least a portion of a subterranean formation at a pressure sufficient to create or enhance at least one fracture in the subterranean formation. In some embodiments, the viscosified treatment fluid may also comprise a plurality of particulates. In some embodiments, the viscosified treatment fluids may be placed into at least a portion of a pipeline. Additional methods are also provided.

Treatment fluids comprising clarified xanthan and associated methods

Treatment fluids that may comprise an aqueous fluid, a gelling agent, and a zirconium triisopropylamine crosslinking agent are provided. Also provided are crosslinking agents that may comprise a zirconium triisopropylamine crosslinking agent, and a zirconium IV-containing crosslinking agent.
