Wellhead apparatus, assembly and method for supporting downhole tubing

A system includes a tubing head spool (THS) installed in a non-plugged wellbore, the THS having a bore diameter to permit passage of one or more wellbore components corresponding to one or more wellbore components that pass through an associated blowout preventer (BOP). The system also includes an orientation sleeve arranged within the THS and installed, the orientation sleeve being positioned and aligned within the THS via one or more engagement features mating with one or more orientation features within the bore.

System and method for full bore tubing head spool

A wellbore system includes a tubing hanger positioned within a wellhead and a Christmas tree (XT) coupled to the tubing hanger. The wellbore system also includes an annulus isolation device (AID). The AID includes a manual actuator configured to drive a wedge in a linear direction. The AID also includes a mating wedge arranged within an annulus flow path, the mating wedge configured to receive a force responsive to movement of the wedge. The AID further includes a stab coupled to the mating wedge, the stab configured to move in an axially downward direction responsive to movement of the mating wedge, the stab having a slotted portion moveable into alignment with an annulus passage to permit flow into the annulus flow path.

Annulus isolation device

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a system for directing the flow of fluids via a production tree. The production tree extends upwardly from a lower surface to an upper surface and at least partially enclosing an upper section of a production bore and an upper section of an annulus bore, wherein one of a lower section and the upper section of the production bore includes a first production valve, the upper section of the production bore includes a second production valve, and the upper section of the annulus bore includes a second annulus valve.

System for hydrocarbon recovery

Adapters for inclusion on the lower end of a completion/work-over riser includes a flow loop in fluid communication with a production flow loop hub and a production bore to facilitate testing and calibration of a subsea multi-phase flow meter during completion operations. The flow loop can be in fluid communication with one or more flow loop isolation valves, one or more production bore isolation valves, one or more annulus bore isolation valves, or one or more cross-over valves. In addition, a pressure/temperature sensor can also be included in the adapter. The adapters disclosed herein permit production fluid to flow through the subsea multi-phase flow meter while the riser is still attached to the subsea Christmas tree and before production operations have begun.

An apparatus for performing operations on an offshore well includes a subsea wellhead assembly. A riser extends from the subsea wellhead assembly to a surface vessel. A tool connects to a running string and is lowered through the riser into the wellhead assembly for performing operations at the wellhead assembly. A subsea controller is located adjacent the subsea wellhead assembly. The subsea controller controls the operation of the tool. A surface controller is positioned on the surface vessel, and is in communication with the subsea controller via a control line extending downward from the surface controller to the subsea controller. The control line extends downward from the surface controller along an exterior of the riser.

Tubing running equipment for offshore rig with surface blowout preventer

A method performing an operation in a subsea wellhead assembly through a riser extending between the wellhead assembly and a surface platform includes the step of connecting a surface blowout preventer to an upper portion of the riser. Then a tool is connected to a string of conduit. A control line is then connected to the tool, extended alongside the conduit. The tool and control line are lowered through the blowout preventer and riser. The method also includes the step of mounting a slick joint to an upper end of the conduit when the tool is near the wellhead assembly. The control line is then linked through the slick joint and extends to the surface platform. The method also includes the step of communicating with the tool via the control line and performing an operation in the wellhead assembly with the tool.

A subsea wellhead assembly has a wellhead housing at the upper end of the well. The wellhead housing supports one or more strings of casing, each having a casing hanger. A tubing spool connects to the upper end of the wellhead housing. The tubing spool has a landing shoulder with a plurality of auxiliary passages extending from the shoulder to the exterior of the tubing spool. The auxiliary passages are spaced circumferentially around the tubing spool. A receptacle on the exterior of the tubing spool communicates with these auxiliary passages. A tubing hanger lands in the tubing spool, the tubing hanger having auxiliary ports spaced circumferentially around it. These ports mate with the auxiliary passages to communicate with auxiliary lines extending alongside the tubing. A production tree mounts to the upper end of the tubing spool. A control unit mounted to the production tree assembly has a flexible lead that extend from it and plugs into the receptacle.

Slim-bore tubing hanger

A dog-style connector with a fail-safe mechanism for a marine riser system that connects a box portion and a pin portion of a riser. An actuator housing is affixed to an external surface of the box portion. The actuator housing has an outer bore and a threaded inner bore. An actuator body is threadably received in the inner bore. The actuator body has a hex head on its first end. The actuator body has a threaded fastener bore extending from the first end for receiving a threaded fastener. The actuator body has a second end that has a stem receptacle formed therein. The fastener bore is in communication with the stem receptacle. An actuator head, which includes a flange and a stem, is provided wherein the stem is positioned within the stem receptacle for sliding engagement therewith. Threads formed on the threaded fastener engage a threaded fastener receptacle formed in the stem of the actuator head. A dog interfaces with the flange and is slidably mounted with respect to the actuator body for engaging a groove in the pin portion of a riser. A threaded fastener is provided to be threadably received in the threaded fastener bore of the actuator body.

Riser dog screw with fail safe mechanism

A flowline selector device has a housing with a single passage at the upper end and two or more passages at the lower end. A tube connects to the upper end and has a lower end that is offset from the axis of the housing. Reciprocating the tube up and down and rotating it causes the tube to index between the various ports in the lower end of the housing. The lower end of the tube stabs into cylindrical bores in each port. A piston located at the upper end of the tube cooperates with an orientation sleeve to cause the indexing and reciprocating movement.

Subsea flowline selector

A subsea well having inner and outer tubular housings has features to reduce bending movement of the inner housing within the outer housing. The inner and outer housings have mating wedging surface axially spaced apart from each other. These tapered surfaces are spaced so as to cause the inner housing to wedge within the outer housing as it is lowered into place. A latch latches the inner housing to the outer housing once lowered into place. A sleeve of elastomeric material locates on the exterior of the lower extension of the inner housing. This sleeve extends downward a selected distance to prevent bonding of cement to the inner housing in this area. Part of the latch is mounted to a ring clamp that releasably mounts to the outer housing.

Subsea wellhead stabilization

A running tool for installing a casing hanger in a subsea conductor also serves to wash cement from the annulus surrounding the casing hanger. The running tool includes a tubular tool body which connects to a string of conduit. An internal sleeve mounts in the interior of the tool body for rotational movement only. A torque member lowers through the conduit to the internal sleeve for rotating the internal sleeve. A wash port extends from the interior of the tool body to the exterior of the tool body. An external sleeve mounts to the exterior of the tool body for axial movement between a closed position, closing the wash port, and an open position, opening the wash port. A linking mechanism between the internal and external sleeve causes rotary movement of the internal sleeve to move the external sleeve axially.

Washout mechanism for offshore wells

A tieback system for a subsea well utilizes a tieback connector. The tieback connector has a body that lands on a wellhead housing located on a sea floor. A funnel extends downward from the body for sliding over the wellhead housing. A lockdown sub is carried by the body and has a set of tapered threads on its exterior. A lock ring is carried by the lockdown sub. The lock ring has an exterior profile for engaging an internal groove formed in the wellhead housing. Rotating the lockdown sub moves it downward from a recessed position to a locking position. In that position, the rotation causes makeup to the threads and causes the lock ring profile to tightly engage the groove in the wellhead housing.
