A continuous method for producing a dispersion of phthalocyanine blue pigment in an organic solvent is disclosed. The method involves the following two steps:

Process for laminating. A macroapertured thermoplastic web is brought continuously into contact with the hot moving surface of a rotating roll. A fabric is pressed against the thermoplastic material on the roll and, within about five seconds, the fabric carrying the hot thermoplastic material is continuously peeled off the roll. The resulting fabric, carrying hot thermoplastic material, is then brought into contact with a preformed cellular layer.

Laminating

A system for the manufacture of leatherlike materials, particularly for shoe uppers, which avoids pollution, toxicity and fire hazards and makes it possible for the shoe manufacturer to make his shoe upper materials as required with a minimum of investment in inventory of raw materials and with simple, relatively inexpensive equipment.

Method of making leatherlike materials (A)

Upholstery material and shoe upper material made from a base sheet of criss-crossing elastomeric polyurethane fibers running parallel to the surfaces of the sheet, said fibers being bonded together at their points of contact. In one preferred form the product has a preformed skin whose thickness is less than about 100 microns and preferably less than about 50 microns, such as about 20 to 40 microns and the skin is joined to the fibers of the base sheet by spaced fingers of a binder.
