Curable compositions comprising an epoxy mixture comprising a) an epoxy mixture comprising i) a first epoxy component comprising epoxy phenol novolac oligomers having a content of 2-functional monomers of less than 10 weight percent based on the total weight of the first epoxy component and having an epoxide equivalent weight in the range of 170 to 200; and ii) a second epoxy component comprising an epoxy resin having monomers with an average functionality of at least 2 and b) a hardener, are disclosed. The curable compositions can be used to prepare prepregs for hot-melt applications.

Rigid polyurethane foams are made using a polyol component that includes toluene diamine-initiated polyols containing specified levels of oxyethylene groups. Foams made from these polyols have low k-factors and excellent demold expansion values.

Mannich polyols having a viscosity of from 300 to 3,500 cps (0.3 to 3.5 Pa*s) at 25&deg; C. are prepared by admixing a phenol, an alkanolamines, and formaldehyde mixed in molar ratios of from 1:1:1 to 1:2.2:2.2 resulting in an initiator which can be alkoxylated using a mixture of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide to prepare polyols that have a nominal functionality of from 3 to 5.4.

Polyols useful for preparing water blown rigid polyurethane foam

A method for preparing an iron oxide containing dehydrogenative catalyst having improved moisture stability which comprises calcining by a two step method. The temperature of calcination is maintained at from about 250.degree. to about 600.degree. C. in the first step and from about 700.degree. to about 800.degree. C. in the second step. The effectiveness of the catalyst is not substantially changed from that of the single step calcination known to the art while the moisture stability is improved.

A method of controlling metal leaching in heterogeneous catalysis conducted in the presence of a solid-supported, metal complex catalyst with liquid feed subject to inclusion of ligands competitive with the solid support for the metal complex. The method is specifically applicable where the heterogeneous catalysis reaction is a combined hydroformylation/reduction reaction producing aldehydes and alcohols from olefins.
