A GPS/GLONASS travel recorder which utilizes the accurate position and velocity information determinable from radio frequency signals emanating from GPS and/or GLONASS satellites and ground stations to create an accurate route map by joining the frequent accurate position data points with user selectable or automatically selected route symbology. Features of the route locality are automatically printed on a displayed map of the travelled route from prior stored legends that are designated with approximate position location, or can be inserted by a user with keyboard or mouse entry. The computer processor of the GPS/GLONASS travel recorder calculates distance traveled by the carrier, time of travel, height, and other user chosen parameters that are programmed into the processor. Such data are stored for later retrieval as is the route map.

The all DOP GPS optimization utilizes special dilution of precision (DOP) minimization measures to select the constellation of four (and fewer, with constraints) GPS satellites to form the navigation solution with optimized accuracy in the desired orthogonal component(s) of position and velocity, and the desired component of time. Furthermore, the all DOP GPS optimization utilizes multiple navigation solutions of the top ranked satellite constellations of four (and fewer) GPS satellites selected by special DOP(s) (and standard DOP(s)) minimization(s), by weighting these multiple navigation solution estimates for a component(s) of interest with the inverse of the associated DOP, and then solving for the least squares solution of these multiple navigation solution estimates. Implementation of all DOP GPS optimization is accomplished with addition of microprocessor(s), RAM memory, and ROM memory to the general processing section of a GPS receiver to implement the special DOP (and standard DOP) algorithms, the multiple parallel running navigation solutions, and the least squares solution of the the multiple navigation solution estimates by increased processing thruput, and added data, constants, and instructions storage.

Communication and computer interconnecting systems using Universal Direct Spherics (Unidispherics) philosophy makes it possible to transmit and store data in an efficient and rapid manner. The system architecture embodies a plurality of communication sites (nodes) which interact with each other by a symmetrical arrangement of great circles on a sphere or their equivalent. Each intersection of two great circles can be a node for linking processors, bulk memories, and in/out units (IND). In addition to the insertion of two great circles on a sphere, there are five other links, four along each of the great circles connected to the nodes at the adjacent great circle intersections and one cross-link to the node diametrically opposite on the sphere.

Computer and communications systems employing universal direct spherics

A method and arrangement for integrating a Global Positioning System and an Inertial Navigating System without the use of accelerometers to provided a velocity steering signal that is utilized in the guidance of a flying vehicle, such as a space craft. The method and arrangement do not require the use of accelerometers. A mechanization for interfacing the integrated Global Positioning System and the Inertial Navigating System with a flight control system which controls a flying vehicle is disclosed.
